Could you elaborate on the Slack-Linux-Japanese thing please? I have no problems with it, and was wondering if maybe an update broke it?

I went looking for it myself a while back: https://www.unisys.com/offerings/clearpath-forward/clearpath... Unfortunately, I haven't got access to a Windows machine at the moment.

Has the MTM/learning system been submitted to HN before, do you know? I'm getting kinda tired of copy-pasting the same links over and over :)

IBM Dallas: http://dtsc.dfw.ibm.com/ Others exist, but you might need to be looking for/googling a 'service bureau' (what cloud providers were called in the olden days)

But z/OS isn't. You need both for a functioning local environment. (Yes, yes, leaving aside IBM z/OS licensing restrictions which preclude use under Hercules)

If you're assuming 'for free', then yes I agree. A full z/OS cluster on a laptop is well within the realms of feasibility using (non-free) zPDT however. https://www.redbooks.ibm.com/abstracts/sg24820

:) IBM really need to pull their finger out and hype this. (If you need more than a year btw, you can re-apply for a new ID in subsequent years. I've done it myself twice)

I think the $900 is just for the z software. For zPDT you need to provide your own hardware/cloud instance, and pay for the emulation software on top of that. That came in around $2.5k/year IIRC.

I can't believe this (still?) isn't being more widely publicized by IBM - they offer free 1-year z/OS accounts to anyone. You're perfectly free to re-apply the following year (I've done it myself). https:/
