As part of that subgroup, I think 'colorblindness' is a stigmatising term. I prefer 'chromatographically challenged'. I'll lead myself out.

First time I went to the states (some 20 years ago), for some reason or other my local bank gave me a heap of $2 notes (also some $20 and $50 ones!) when I asked them for a few hundred dollars, just so I wouldn't have to worry about fi

'The Road to Wigan Pier' and 'Down and Out in Paris and London' (also by Orwell) are the starkest accounts of poverty and what it does to you I have ever read.

I'd upvote this ten times if I could. I had the good fortune of being exposed to both Pozar, an excellent lecturer and a wizard of an RF lab postdoc when studying RF engineering, and the utility of simply spending lots and lots of time

For many, Apple Music, Spotify, Tidal or whatever serves as an addition to, not a substitute for a large music collection. Over the years, I've amassed some 2,200 LPs, 2,500 CDs or so, lots and lots of live recordings on cassette, CD-R

This wanker (Been driving a Land Cruiser 95 since 2001) feels positively out-wanked when driving in the US; my 4x4 is considered large-ish at home, but is dwarfed by what appears to be common fare in at least parts of the US; I was in Port

This being enforced sure would put an end to TOS being revised. (Which, overall, would be a good thing.) What I dream about is consumer protection laws mandating that the car owner can simply opt out of whatever 'services' the car

It could have been worse, unless the fee has changed since it was imposed around 2002 or so, fresh Norwegian hams need to cough up NOK2000/USD180 or so. It replaced an annual fee, though, so if you were in it for the long run, you came

One catch would be the massive strain on the AC grid; with an EV consuming some 200Wh or so/km, 1200km equals a capacity of approx. 240kWh. 240kWh in 10 minutes translates into 1,44MW - for charging one car! (Assuming 100% efficiency.)

It is close to two tons, I was (clumsily, it appears, but English is my third language, so please bear with me) trying to state that an id.3 compact is 250-450kg (depending on configuration) heavier than a gasoline-powered estate.

Surely brake dust must be negligible compared to tire and asphalt dust? I recently replaced the brake pads on my Land Cruiser; 70,000km (45,000 miles) since they were last replaced. This is a large, heavy 4x4, yet the amount of brake liner

Batteries are still heavy. For instance, the VW id.3 (small-ish EV) has a curb weight 250-450kg (550-1,000lbs) more than my wife's gasoline VW Passat, a quite spacious estate wagon.
