I think the same arguments can be said about P2P during the file sharing era. File sharing was often used for sketchy purposes most of the time, like cryptocurrencies, and people argued the underlying technology (P2P) was the key breakthrou

Thanks! For this project, we had a lot of ideas how to improve the build that we learned while doing it. We'll try to make those changes. But more exciting for us, is we've used some of the techniques here to build an augmented re

Great question, we tested how people interpreted the motions on both, and the hardware version was a bit easier to understand (but nothing statistically significant). The paper has a figure with the comparison results.

I had the same experience as the grandparent, and averaged 70K a year. I had a lot of great opportunities during my Ph.D so I was really fortunate, but I felt that many students I met during internships were serial interns and got fellowshi

I agree with you, and I think it depends a lot on the department you are in. Too many people just apply for the top N schools for the field they want to go into. There's a huge difference in culture and feels of each school, and how th

It's kind of a mix. Many agencies and calls say that the maximum amount you can budget is say, $500K over 3 years including indirect costs. So you'll say the project costs $350K and allocate $150K to indirects. If indirects were l

My research group has been trying to address this problem by using user interactions with a website to create this "ground truth". One assumption is that you have to look where you click. But there are more subtle user interaction
