Most people would prefer an excellent language learning app to simply be available and ready for them to use, rather than having to come up with how such an app could best work, and to get an AI to implement it by themselves, and having to

Reminiscent of Kobayashi Maru. You probably don’t want the James T. Kirk AI. ;)

You were asking for historical backing. Sleep is definitely abundantly mentioned in historical writing, while segmented sleep is not. I take the absence of the latter as historical backing.

There is a lack of historical writings clearly describing segmented sleep as a normal practice over monophasic sleep. If it had been the standard sleep pattern, one would expect abundant evidence for it. Roger Ekirch’s theory, meanwhile, is

Well, I disagree, I use both and vastly prefer the mouse for most work. And I’d assume that most people using mice nowadays to the point of going the trouble to seeking out configuration software for it have similar preferences. > Rathe

That you haven’t used a mouse for years is (presumably) a fact, not an opinion. But what’s your point in stating that in this thread? Obviously mouse users nowadays are aware that there are people who prefer trackpads.

Some homeless people choose to not make use of such facilities, for example because they don’t want to get into fights with the other (ex-)homeless living there, or because of anxiety issues and the like.

They are building fabs on track to get online towards the end of 2027, full capacity production expected for 2028. These are serious pieces of very complex technology that take years, not months, to build.

I’m running PCs with 13 and 15 year old motherboards/CPUs/RAM. I wouldn’t worry about seven years.

Sam Altman laying claims on 40% of the world’s RAM wafer production is what took everyone by surprise. The supply shortage likely would have ramped up more slowly otherwise.

Interesting, I don’t have a circular mental image of the year at all. It’s more like a continuous line — the summers are light and the winters are dark(er) — where the previous year doesn’t coincide with the next year. Same for the week (an
