and you can't actually pull the reviews - only a snippet, and then link to them. and their whole api is crippled by a non commercial use clause. looks great on paper, but the NYT has been very timid in their implementation.

Exactly. This is the same tired argument that we've been hearing about the FB's and MySpaces forever. Logically, it makes perfect sense. In reality, nobody has figured out how to actually monetize this sort of activity yet.

This is consistent with what we are seeing. CPM is actually up for us year over year, and the seasonal trends remain similar. No rush away from online advertising yet - though I'm worried about Q1 09.
