People have shipped the BEAM VM as part of iOS apps recently though. I think Thinking Elixir covered it in an episode.

I'm very active in Elixir but the forum just hasn't been my vibe.

The confs I've seen tend to release videos later. Virtual tickets probably make decent money and I think most confa want to clean up the long-lived video before putting it out. Low incentives to stream for free it seems.

Exactly that. Compiles down to it rather than shipping the full compiled BEAM and runtimes. Firefly is the new name, Lumen the old. Lumen lost momentum for a bit, DockYard seems recommitted to finishing it up. I think it has fantastic promi

No I've heard of it. It had some hype in the early social and app days.

I can speak some to the Elixir tech it is built on. It should be low, even with load. The Erlang VM is very good with concurrency and keeping latencies consistent and low. The presence feature could be slower since that propagates a bit mor

As an active community participant and freelance Elixir dev I've been dipping my toe in helping companies recruit Elixir devs and helping devs find good Elixir jobs. There is more of both parties than I could possibly address and exhau

ID3 is not formally tied to any file format. It can exist without a media file or with any other file. It was conceived of for MP3 files but nothing should be stopping you ;)

As I was doing the work on implementing parsing and encoding I never spent much time looking at the T-frames as they all technically work the same :)

I haven't tried but that should work fine unless the specific parser gets up to some shenanigans.

I did not seriously mean to make you think I thought this was an actually good idea. I find the idea delightful and amusing, not good. I've dealt with torrents, large file databases and backups. Well aware of hashing which makes this m

I absolutely get that. In many ways what excited me about seeing all these frames was the sense of possibility completely untempered by practicalities. I wrote it in the spirit of taking the idea and going with it, off the deep end if you w

Not necessarily. I'd be curious to see a slightly different take on the programming environments I'm used to. I like macOS more than iPadOS but regardless, right now I couldn't work on the iPad if I wanted to.

I still can't feasibly code and build things in an arbitrary language of my choice. I like my iPad Pro quite a bit but the only way I can do the type of web app dev I normally do through it is by remoting. I don't believe there ar

Cockroach is eventually open source which I rather appreciate. Any code that is 3 years old goes Apache if I recall it correctly.

I was surprised how hard it was to find nature documentaries that mostly showed nature and animals and not talking heads very concerned about the planet. I'm all aboard but it wasn't what I wanted to show my 1.5 year-old. I wanted

The market is quite good for people who want to try a move or two. I'm not into Ruby but I see people hesitate similarly about my preferred lang and mostly think they should just take that leap.

So far they haven't solved something that resolves the problem of having US ownership as far as I can tell. The issue isn't where the servers are. The issue is what parties can compell them to hand over information. As far as I&#x

There is also a bundle of clever implementation which means the templates are aware of what parts are static and what parts are dynamic. So they can send optimized changes, essentially small diffs, for the dynamic parts as they change. Ofte

LiveView? It lets you not write JavaScript. Or depending on your needs, very little Javascript. Less need for an API-layer and related contracts. You can still use Tailwind CSS. Works quite nicely.
