The basic process is: 1. Read an article. 2. Encounter a word or phrase you don't know. 3. Keep reading! 4. If the meaning of the word or phrase "clicks" for you, put it into Anki. If not, look it up in a dictionary. For wo

I think that's a very fair assessment of how I use Anki. I think if you spend all your time using Anki and no time interacting with the actual language you're learning you won't get very far. Basically every sentence I put i

I've used Anki over the past 8 years or so very successfully. I strongly recommend it to anyone learning a language. Here are some tips to get the most out of it: * Only put things you know into Anki. An individual Anki card should f

If you can type without much thought, then I wouldn't worry about increasing your typing speed. Touch typing is nice because you spend less time thinking about the physical action of typing. 50wpm and 100wpm make little difference.

I could be grasping at straws but words like "onanism" and "soft" instead of software are quite characteristic of Japanese native speakers of English. The rest of the English is a little too good though...

I had a look around at David Blaine poking various things into himself. I think I was probably wrong. It looks like poking a needle into a bicep is a somewhat common trick[1]. I assume he just takes the pain. Still, I would tell everyone

Much more of it is a trick than David Blaine says so. I think Penn Jillette put it quite well: "Do you really believe a magician who last week was doing car tricks but this week is doing 'real' magic?"(paraphrased). Rem
