See huhtenberg's comment above. It was my experience too - the spammers are just too lazy/busy/cheap to chase the fractions of the percentages.

FWIW I'm pretty sure that my views on external dependencies aren't very common or popular. I think you'd have no problem finding users for your service.

Ah, no. Of course, he's not identified as a spammer. Instead, he is identified as someone who needs to go through additional checks when posting. This can be combined with the stopforumspam check, and that would yield 3 categories of visito

The principal difference is that Stopforumspam is a blacklisting method, and what I described is a whitelisting one. Theirs is an effective approach, and it works great for dedicated forum sites. But I think it's an overkill for simpler set

Killed several months on CertTime - a digital time-stamping service for graphic and logo designers. Got very enthusiastic support for the idea, but then got zero interest in actually using the service. [1] http://certtime.com

I didn't know about the Web Store requirement. I am on Firefox and I have some prehistoric version of Chrome that I use for testing Chrome stuff. If anyone is willing to repackage the extension and submit to the Chrome Store, it'd be much a

There you go - items.each(function(){ var id = getItemId( $(this) ); - if (localStorage.getItem(id)) + if (localStorage.getItem(id) || ($(this).find('span').html() == '1 point'))

It would need to involve a server. I emailed Paul late last year when I first got the idea, heard nothing back, so I guess it will need to be a 3rd party server. Shouldn't be that hard, only a fork away - https://github.com/apankrat/intern

I've been using this tweak for a month now, and I converged to hiding maybe a story or two per day. It's a great stress reliever if anything else, especially during the crunch times :-)

It's just an experiment, these aren't mutually exclusive. I will be trying promoted tweets further down the line.

Twitter's ad product is called "Promoted tweets", and they are arguably far less precisely targeted than when tweeting to the followers of a specific account.

I have over 1000 followers on Dribbble, and people there are typically supportive of others launching things, so that helped too. On Forrst, I used the promoted post option ($40 for 2000 impressions), but it didn't seem to matter much, beca
