They should respect semantic versioning and ensure that any 3.x version remains backwards compatible with 3.0 code.

I think there is also a difference between realistic and believable. The original Half-Life had IMHO more believable leg/feet movement. In HL, the feet were much more "stuck to the ground" compared to most modern games where

We did yeet New Horizons at Pluto. It got an assist from Jupiter, but could have reached Pluto without, six years delayed.

The stored version also uses token code points (single bytes >127), not literal tokens.

I don't think it's being ungrateful, or at least not something unique to Londoners. People think and act relatively. We will always complain about the biggest issue we face, not matter how trivial it is compared others. Or you cou

No. To "opt" literally means "to make a choice". If the choice has been made for you, you are not "opted-in", you are in.

INI-files are crap too, as there is no standard. Every program has it's own dialect, and automating around them can be a pain.

Ah, sorry, I see now, but the underlying point is the same. You should not reveal any information. A "We have sent an email to the address associated with the account" would be sufficient.

Best practice would be to display this message no matter whether the email address is correct or not, to avoid leaking information. Many sites do this.

There is complexity in making the change and diverging on different platforms. ~/.myapprc was there first and it was XDG that came along and wanted everything to change.

I'm not, even though I also DIY. A multi-2.5GBe port fanless N6005 mini-PC (plus a cheap barebones WiFi AP) does it for router, switch, storage, game server (Valheim & Satisfactory), timeserver (chrony), DNS (unbound with blocklist

I agree. I get the impression that the intended message is "USB not necessary" rather than "unavailable". I can imagine that many users seeing the USB port would think that it is required (since it was on older printers)

ProjFS can solve some of the same use cases, but is different by design. It is basically local file storage with a virtual backend that can provide files and data to the local file system. Once files are local, the provider is not asked whe

This is what working with people is like. You will need to make your case and get buy-in from people if you expect their support. You can't just bluntly expect them to respect your conclusion. If you fixate on your conclusion, you will

I find Slint's font rendering odd and somewhat off-putting. It doesn't look sharp, especially on classic 96 DPI displays. Big text look inconsistently both fuzzy and aliased, and small text has inconsistent intensity. Lack of subp

In my environment: ~/project% find -type d | wc -l 13946 I access files in a dozen or so folders in this hierarchy regularly, so fuzzy find is an extreme boost for me.

Fuzzy history is nice, but the real game changer for me was the ability to pretty much stop remembering paths in big projects. The default keybindings provide the Ctrl-T shortcut to insert a path/filename on the command line using fuzz
