Aha. But I think it's the other way around, schizophrenia is treated by dopamine suppressors, so too much dopamine means the brain takes all information to be relevant.

Could you elaborate on that? If the idea is that dopamine causes schizophrenia (to oversimplify things), I don't see why increasing dopamine with a cigarette would work as self-medication for a schizophrenic.

I love this kind of thing, and I'm going to disagree with this one: 2016, Holographic Versatile Disc (HVD) replaces Blu-Ray This isn't going to happen. In fact Blu-Ray will never even replace the DVD. DVDs will be replaced by digital downlo

I have the book here, and it turns out I'm misremembering. It's not an exercise, but an example. It's on pages 643-648 (in my version), in the chapter on relational programming.

Oz is a pretty damn cool language. But I think another thing that's hampering its adoption, apart from syntax, is the lack of available libraries. I also have to add to the praise of Concepts, Techniques, and Models of Computer Programming.

I've also done some work dealing with the Excel file format for a personal project (.xls not .xlsx). I think it needs to be clarified (not that you're implying this), that at least a lot of this mess isn't deliberate obfuscation on Microsof

If you make it work in IE7 you might not be far from IE6 support, because the two are near equivalent when it comes to support of the various javascript APIs. IE7 was mostly an improvement of the rendering engine. (Note that there are suppo

You could try to look for information on this guy: http://www.worth1000.com/artists/deralt He started doing photo retouching in the 1950s. After he retired he went on to make some of the best photoshops I've ever seen. He was then in his

I've been sitting here thinking about this for ~20 minutes now. I'm about 70% sure you're onto something useful. Seems like it could be a nice way to do the trade-off between population variation and selection pressure.

As I understand it, the point of this is to manipulate how MDC ranks in google searches. A lot of people try to do this, and google works to prevent it. What I'm saying is that google's algorithms might see this sudden rise in links coming

Africa is a perfect example of a continent where, in many countries, there is no free press and little access to the Internet. In general you'll find a strong correlation between a lack of free press and low GDP, war, oppression etc. Yeah,

Advice no. 1 is to switch OS if you're a windows user? That's bad advice. LispBox works great, and the hurdle of changing OS isn't going to help you learn Common Lisp. Lisps have got to be the easiest family of languages to get started with
