I'm sure they'll have historical districts where you can rent an old time car and drive manually on weekends, with the appropriate waivers and insurance forms signed :)

You're right, public transport isn't going anywhere and still has huge efficiency benefits. But these cars can make it better, by solving the first/last mile problem. I imagine them ferrying people frantically to and from mas

A whole lane for parked cars each side of a street often means no dedicated lanes for public transit like buses or trams. Letting them get stuck in traffic is a huge loss for the many people that commute on them.

If you do a lot of data munging, then boilerplate is definitely an annoying obstacle. Plenty of problems are "embarrassingly parallel", and the map function may be fine for those cases.

Surely most of Paypal's real work is around fraud and disputes. Bitcoin might help reduce their transaction costs though, ideally some of that would flow back to its customers.

Thanks! :) It's a little aggressive in calling sudo mainly because I'm using it to bootstrap new systems non-interactively. I don't want it to ask any questions at all, just to go.

This sounds like a question of how declarative your deps are, with Chef and Puppet picking different points on the scale. I can relate that with Babushka now, we commonly rely on ordering of requirements (A <- B, C in that order!) at tim

Even in "non-deterministic" style prolog, the execution order is still fixed, and dependencies are traversed in the order you wrote them. There will be no surprises. The missing full-stop is no different to a missing semi-colon, c

We use Hadoop/Hive/EMR for a sub-TB dataset for exactly this reason. The flip side is that I've found the ecosystem to be pretty flakey (specifically Hive). Debugging code you wrote yourself is pretty different to working you
