Depending on the volume of surface ice (especially at the poles), might it be possible to produce atmosphere on a massive scale via orbital lenses or mirrors? With recent advances in solar sail technology, I can't imagine the implement

I don't know the rate of atmospheric loss, but it might be possible to introduce air at a high enough rate to outstrip the losses, making for a sustainable atmosphere. It would presumably depend on the availability of ice and other vol

One fairly trustworthy solution is to just set up a DigitalOcean droplet ($5/month) (or any other cloud provider, I just prefer DO), and host your own VPN. DO provides a guide at https://www.digitalocean.com/community&#

Shamelessly plugging the Librem 5 [1] here, as this article demonstrates precisely why we need a privacy-focused, FOSS phone. While the carriers having access to some of this information would not be prevented on a carrier-based data plan (

Excellent writeup, and a good example of what types of attacks to expect as we move forward towards a more decentralized web.

IMO, we need both types - Gates' work improves society in our current world, while Musk and Branson's investment kickstart the scientific and technological advances needed to further our civilization.

I had been somewhat under the impression that current colonization plans were one-way deals. Agreed that it'll be an issue once we have the infrastructure and desire to return to Earth.

It should be noted that, in Mars' reduced gravity, it can be presumed the symptoms would be lessened. Still a major concern, however.

I've not played The 7th Continent, but from the description, it sounds rather similar in style to the video game Sunless Sea (and the currently-in-beta sequel, Sunless Skies) - exploration-driven, deeply unforgiving survival and resour

Hmm. Don't care too much about SV fashion, but as a loafer enthusiast, having machine washable, sockless, general-purpose shoes sounds very cool. A bit dubious about their durability, however - the article mentions that the first gener

Something like Openbazaar or another P2P market might be the solution, if it gets large enough to eclipse other marketplaces. Whether Openbazaar itself has that potential I couldn't say, as I haven't yet used it.
