My personal worries about keybase are more about the coin-bs and unwanted features creeping in. There's no way keybase can be a contender to CAs if it has chat and file sync, it just needed to be a barebones toolkit that can be integra

This makes so much sense since every identity exists in the context of some authority, some common referential. You're never completely alone as the pgp-classic web of trust implies, instead you're trusting some centrally managed

My guess: general software multiplication is usually costlier than addition: it will pay off if you go for divide-and-conquer and your items are themselves matrices, or if they are arbitrary precision integers, or fractions, or elements of

Some is nice, up until the gratuitous references to christian religion. Lots of asceticism and charity, which is very not social by nature. Importantly there is almost nothing on evilness of power structures (how surprising). My personal ta

I'm not sure i get what you mean by "hav[ing] to be compiled separately", but as far as i understand, the flambda intermediate representation of the ocaml backend has no (notable) distinction between a functor and a function

This. Big part of the most high-performance code (like crypto, linear-algebra or fft kernels) are even generated: you build a program that will generate a program that will get compiled (or is already asm). One can arguably say that the gen

None of the example languages (C,C++,java) have serious type systems (in the sense of mathematically well-behaved and expressive). I'll look at OCaml since that's the one i know best (and it's more low-level/perf-oriente

It's obvious that energy sources based on local meteo conditions don't have 24/7 reliability. The question is: how much of that reliability do we need? What would be possible if we did forgo some? Most of our industrial proce

There is nothing "trustless". Our world is social by structure, all our actions contribute to various kinds of trust. Blockchains aren't trustless they're just unable to internally express trust relationship: there is al

My 2cts: It would be ok to soft-block huge servers: making them opt-in only, on user-by-user basis. Ie you could follow from/to twitter on some other AP server, but no notification on (unrequested) mention, shared #tag searching, etc.
