I used to agree with this for WSL1. Syscall translation gave solid performance, decent FS integration, and interop within WSL with windows executables. I really liked it. WSL2 has been such a pain. You're basically managing a VM with V

I don’t remember mentioning Musk once in my comments. He’d also be a poor choice. They should stick with a european who understands the challenges of start-up high tech in europe. I am in fact talking about start-ups and tech as a domain. T

This isn't the point. More knowledgeable people at lower levels can help. But when leadership lacks domain expertise it's very hard to know what to do or not do, what will help and won't. She could be smart and lean heavily o

Calviño is the wrong choice to lead this. Why not tap a few people from Mistral if they care about AI? Spotify if they care about more generic tech? Funding will not fix the fact that euro salaries are not even remotely competitive especial

France had a vastly bloodier path to that constitution as you know. And france’s constitution today is pretty bad. It fails to protect basic freedoms like speech and arms. It moves too much responsibility to the feds. Etc.

Block grants are bad. I would prefer non-corporate tax cuts focusing on the middle class. This would also help us balance the federal budget. I like national parks. They are one of the few things I don't mind paying taxes for. Most of

I don't think Qatar and Saudi are "good" allies. I don't think Canada and the EU were "bad" allies. Canada partially still is not. The EU is now regarding China.

We tried the "nice" approach with the EU of polite patron-to-client instruction. The EU failed to play ball. We tried this with many countries. They failed to play ball. So there is no reason to continue costing the American citiz

The law purports to give the feds that power. I believe the Constitution has been grossly twisted to federalize that which the feds have no authority to do. Social welfare is one of those things. Defense per-state would disrupt the concept

Defense is existential and welfare is not. Defense is also an enumerated power of the feds and welfare is not. Defense must be handled at the national welfare and welfare need not be. My "general rule" is there is a pretty small l

Defense was about 12% of last year's spending. I think we should cut the other 88% a lot. Raise defense spending a little. Work hard on bringing down defense costs because we are throwing money at the primes for what.

Then this was a total miscommunication or misread. The last paragraph of my comment was bemoaning precisely this. The right yaps about "we need to cut spending" and never does. The left doesn't yap about it and also never doe

I voted for Trump. I think the Harvard funding thing is stupid. I don't really want money going to Israel. However, I don't think this is chilling. I would prefer more defense spending to ensure the military inferiority of China.

No it's not. Constitutions are the bones of a republic. They are the framework that gives the government power and that checks that power. Letting it mess with that too much or too often is bad. Constitutions should be simple. They sho

I am not surprised. We've known for a while old OS design can't fix this. Not in a comprehensive way. We can patch over specific cases but the basic design is wrong. Capability-based OSes like mobile ones tend to work better here.
