I'm sorry about your parent. I didn't mean to dunk on Steve Jobs, but I'm sure even he would agree he had an eccentric and extremist personality and the bit about fruitarianism seems very relevant esp with happenings like [As

He was following "fruitarianism" on and off even before his diagnosis, I think it's reasonable to suspect it had something to do with his cancer, but I wasn't aware of those details, so thanks for providing them.

Steve Jobs is a prime example, he tried to treat his pancreatic cancer with fruit. Also see Thomas Seyfried's work on ketogenic diets for cancer https://www.bc.edu/bc-web/bcnews/science-tech-and-health/bi

This person likely can afford it and some others without any noticeable impact, I just don't find it appropriate in that circumstance. If you get $15 worth, and can afford it, pay $15, plain and simple.

I really can't imagine someone with CTO title doesn't have $15/month to pay for YouTube when you're a regular user. People with far fewer resources pay. This goes to content creators, if you're not even seeing ads,

Claude estimates the average American consumes about 3800 liters of water per day counting all the food inputs (Claude only drank half a cup for this answer).

Just some transparency would be great. Democracy can't work if the people are not able to understand their government.

true, until someone hooks up Linux to an LLM and being CLI driven it would have no problems doing this & more (Also, I think PDF viewers can do that well in Linux too, I only use a minimal viewer so I don't know)

The Books app is even better! But a programmer it's just as quick to run shrinkpdf in a Linux terminal, and, well, more ascetic. I do think Sumatra PDF is good for Windows software, it's not bloated and it's fast.

Reminded me of this Stallman quote "People sometimes ask me if it is a sin in the Church of Emacs to use vi. Using a free version of vi is not a sin; it is a penance". (I use (Neo)Vi(m) BTW)

Anywhere + get the Internet Archive to index it? IPFS could be a contender, though I don't know where it stands now, but it's the ambition, at least.

I can't, I was making a general statement. There are several large communities around this, that have collectively assembled knowledge about things that sometimes work. No need to summon your favorite boogeymen.
