This is also Tech in NYC. The average salary ($190k) is low for that market, so they're asking for an easier work-life balance. Why they have 600 people is a question for management, no? Kafka's not exactly hard to set up, especi

Four test failures in different systems, each named well, will more quickly and accurately point me to my introduced bug than comments in those systems. Identifiers matter.

The $150k budget included the price of 2 cars. They probably didn't get base models. $35k was for modifying both. They have to bootstrap the r&d for armoring Teslas. They could only find a performance shop that mostly does fiber

You'll end up in a slippery slope there, though. Lots of stocks don't pay dividends, and you can't eat them either. But one use is to get around currency controls / manipulation by the government. Not a big deal in EUR

Huh, no discussion nearly an hour after posting. Either a time zone thing or a conspicuous silence. Or nobody cares about Hack anymore?

They'd look different than airlines, Zepplins were primarily weight constrained instead of volume. Dumping the cabins can save a lot of weight.

It appears RM's out of fashion now. But mine does exactly what it promised to do: let me write and sometimes highlight PDFs. The latter got better after persistent zoom - you zoom the PDF once for the margins and it remembers it for o

And you're still paying the other performance and efficiency costs of TCP. ROCE also isn't a magic bullet. Every system has a cost and tradeoffs. Just because someone took an unusual path doesn't mean that they were wrong.

They don't need the generality of full TCP for their cluster, so they're using a tweaked, incompatible subset. One that's been optimized for better performance on cheaper hardware than you can get with TCP h/w offload.

You're completely backwards. The priority is more games running on Linux. The least important thing is the dynamic linking config or the games. Do not sacrifice - by raising dev costs to support Linux - game support for dynamic link

There's enough open source code available that the hassle of other code probably isn't worth it. LLMs aren't insightful enough to benefit from any differences you'd see between open and closed source code corpii.

It depends a lot on situations. I've heard that there's a fungus in the Southern US that slowly eats some floppy disks (or grows on them, I donno). Also there's a luck component with nearby magnetic sources.
