Drops in framerate happen. Why not make a best effort for accuracy? Also, it's interesting and insightful.

Cats, I recall reading, "domesticated themselves" a long time ago. As a direct result, they are absurdly successful. Surely that's a valid adaptation.

It might be for fairness between free and paid apps. If it were so much easier to install a free app, everyone would do free apps with ads and IAPs. Apple likely prefers having apps show their price up front, for good store UX.

What if you had unlimited budget, programming talent, art assets, scalability, and an infinite supply of fun/novelty/etc without even needing NPCs. Wouldn't that be awesome?

Oh, I know. But good luck with this particular sea change. And yes, certain demographics turn the equation on its head. As expected of economics.

Seriously. I'm thinking of finally going and getting a 3D printer based on her blog. Lots of cool hacks and prints in there.

Females are generally supply side, males demand side in traditional sex economics. Rejection of same through toys is therefore empowering to women and degrading to men. Thus labelled "weird."

Compelling piece about simple, ephemeral beauty. Only one thing sticks out. Beethoven's Great Fugue is not a miracle of the universe.

Yes, please. I switched from socket.io to SockJS a long time ago. I bought into it when I was first writing my app, but it is so unbelievably flaky and the design priorities are all wrong.

Nice that they're going to write the connection part properly. I had to switch from socket.io to sockjs a long time ago because socket.io was just too flaky. The code was pretty ad-hoc with its state (mishmash of .reconnecting, .reconnected

They're largely harmless. Some of them seem pointless or purely resisting-change, like disabling menu bar transparency. Subpixel font rendering could look pretty bad on the wrong screen. A lot of those Finder options are just going to incre

It's not too too hard to do the appropriate transformations--the literature is vast and there are practical implementations today. The hard part is producing readable, debuggable output. I've whipped up a tiny project with the priorities

Was hoping for something less bikeshed-y. What about, say, adherence to all-streaming APIs? What granularity of stream fragment? At what complexity do they switch from callbacks to EventEmitters? Keeping view partials ordered?

Funny enough, I just started using this the other day to write a little async callback JS pre-processor. I wanted to just tokenize but then I found out that JS's regexp literals make JS ambiguous to parse. This project turned out to be a hu

Oh, I agree. Every time someone advocates Erlang they mention how it was used to build super-reliable telecoms and they start mentioning three-letter acronyms and immediately everyone's eyes glaze over. It just isn't sexy like node (yet?).

Seems like this would have major integrity and trust issues. Do they cryptographically sign all content so you know the ad-hoc mirror hasn't been "curated?"
