To be fair, I’m surprised it was open in the first place. For a website that does not have any ads, having its enormous amount of data not only readily available but also searchable felt like a bad choice. What I hope never happens is the a

This feels a lot like the CSS hacks I’ve worked on around 2012, when CSS was limited and SVG was rare and buggy.

That’s nice, but I suppose it only works if you run your own scripts, otherwise you’d be debugging and fixing every single script you have to run.

Smokers are more likely to be social, so they have a better quality of life. Done. As for extending life… social creatures live more? therefore smoking extends life.

The best part about Siri is that what it replaced was insanely better at the specific task of reproducing music. Why does my iPhone in 2023 need to connect to the internet and shamefully fail when I try to play a song or even change the v

The annoying part in this debate is people spending their lives on a project and demanding to be paid for it. Don’t do it! Who’s asking you to work on it? I say this as a minor OSS developer who receives some donations. I love the money, bu

I’d say nobody who “hand crafts” code finds any generated code readable. AI almost puts a dent in that, but even that often produces really ugly code.

Of course it exists, it’s just not produced by Microsoft and therefore relatively few people use it. Webflow has been around for a while and I’m sure they implemented AI already (I didn’t even check). Other React-based tools surely also exi

Can companies actually enforce "fines"? The closest I can think of would be a "breach of contract" penalty, but you'd still have to go to court of file small claims for that. I don't see Apple getting into any

This would be great but in practice they'll just use third-party ad networks, which pay regardless of Apple's decision. It'll definitely break those pesky inflated subscriptions though.

Is that like a reverse codegolf? setInterval(() => console.log(Math.ceil(Date.now()/1000)), 1000);0 This could be 0.999s late, but seems good enough for REPL usage

I think you underestimate how much scamming pays. It’s much more than $99 per day, so unless Apple blocks the app immediately they’re still making money.

I don’t really get it. Prettier isn’t something that you need to run that often on the entire repo; you’re probably just running it on save in a handful of milliseconds or on a pre-commit on hopefully less than 10 files. There are plenty ot

In theory that sounds great, in practice you can find Facebook groups for ~stolen~ ahem lost iPhones for sale. The value of a bricked phone is never zero, so theft prevention isn’t as good as Apple claims.

Looking back, nothing could have prevented the pandemic, if not China itself in January. Once the virus was traveling, you can’t prevent spread. There will always be countries and people who will not follow the rules. The lockdown did save

Let's say you marched for "in favor of choice", but the politicians chose to ignore you because they're backed by just-as-large numbers of people who feel strongly the other way. With COVID, people who felt strongly abou

I’d agree with you if the problem wasn’t real, but we all know that utilization at 50% will cause trouble. I say these people were skilled in saving the company’s ass. They could have just as well waited for the “I told you so” moment,

I don’t think so. Remote or direct is only something we think about. The general user could not care less nor know the difference. Hardly a false equivalence.
