AwesomeWM can be configured to make the statusbar vertical. I have seen a few people on the mailinglist who prefer it that way. The titlebar that you see for firefox, in the link you provided, AwesomeWM does not waste space on that: you'll

Note that in each case, Python has the smallest code. Generally, but not always, this means that people can address tasks quicker in Python.

It does not look quite so bad to me. There is a big difference between saying "the food was so bad that I puked" and saying "the cook tried to poison me". The issue is being debated, both, in public and, via the court.

Perhaps I should have mentioned that I'm quite aware of the origin of the quoted sentence. I was pointing out that talk is cheap.

My point remains: most people who don't write software find it easier to use a GUI. I use Arch, myself. But Synaptic is very well-made. I prefer the command line to any other GUI.

Not funny at all. Referencing your own work, by itself, is not a bad sign. In many cases, the groundbreaking work take several years to accomplish. The years of work generate several new ideas on their own, resulting in several related pape

It surely is freedom from stupidity and narrow-mindedness of government officials. I don't hold the government accountable for the values of rapists. But I do hold it accountable for its own actions (and inaction).

"an Indian is a free citizen" Surely, you're joking! India has some degree of free speech, but if you criticize Bal Thackeray, worry for your life. Not just because of Shiv Sena goons, but because of the police. How many rave parties have t

I hate everything about Unity too. Mint is good. But if one is already on Ubuntu, it doesn't even take a re-install to convert the machine to Kubuntu or Xubuntu.

When I wrote about disk space problems, I did not refer to user content. I agree that there is no easy fix for people keeping fifteen copies of bmps, etc. Instead, I was talking about disks getting filled by OS components, and by other soft

I don't use *ubuntu myself, but this is what I install on friends' PCs (Ubuntu earlier, Xubuntu now). By "simple things like red eye removal", I was referring to something the original author wrote. I then teach them how to add/remove softw

The most absurd things seem "obvious" to you. What is obvious is that you have not had to support friends who keep getting viruses, keep running out of free space on their massive disks, keep complaining about slower and slower performance.

Users? What do you suppose will happen to machines of users who rely on just the default software for "simple things like red eye removal"? Of course, I'm not partial to Linux in this case. BSD and Mac users don't have the virus and trojan

1. The iPhone does not have just one button. It has several other buttons at the side, and it has a GUI. 2. The one-front-button deal is one of the many things I hate about iPhones. The "go back" operation is something we do often on smart
