Why? The iPhone has had similar tech for years and it works fine in sunlight.

This really bugs me. I have throwaway Google accounts that I don't want to add my phone number to, so I can only access them from the location I created them.

From what I understand, any Apple remote positions are employees that previously worked onsite and negotiated remote after a few years.

I find it super convenient from my Apple Watch and use it for most of my payments, but I'd agree that I'm also surprised by 5%. I rarely see anyone else using it even in the Bay Area at stores that have supported it for years.

Using percent values <1% can be a bit confusing for some people I think. I've definitely seen people see "0.01%" and interpret it as "one percent," so writing it out in words is a decent way to do it.

Interesting that you think it's inversely correlated with GPA. At my school, I feel like the people who are experts with the terminal and *nix stuff are the ones who have high GPAs because they are at the top of all the CS classes.

In pretty much zero cases do I believe reading 4chan leads to a better understanding of an event than reading the news does. Coughing up blood is a symptom of pneumonia, which has been reported since the beginning of the outbreak. Also, how

I really like this take and I would love it to come true, but I have some doubts. Fully self-driving cars could probably eventually be accomplished with our current level of hardware (we just need much better software), but flying cars woul

The title is bad. It isn’t really a “glitch” and no one received payment lower than they were expecting or agreed to.

I don’t really understand why Berkeley has to retroactively give $7500 to students who were never expecting it in the first place. When the minimum wage is raised, should employers have to compensate employees for previous hours worked belo

While this is a very cool video, I don't think it demonstrates a Tesla valve that well. In this example, the flame moving isn't really the same thing as a fluid moving with the exception of the gas expansion within the tube that h

Not OP but I've written custom force control code for a UR5e. There's a six axis force sensor on the end effector for the e model which has a pretty noisy raw output. After some filtering we were able to get a pretty sensitive con

This is insane! The coin is a silver denarius. It would be worth about five hundred gold pieces. This is enough money for you to live comfortably for the rest of your life. You could buy yourself a horse or two if you really wante

Yeah, but I think the software differences required for 30 seconds vs 3 minutes is minimal. 30 seconds is still long enough to have to deal with all the issues that would come up with a 3 minute exposure.

Both the Pixel and iPhone have AMAZING camera hardware and software that is better than any others in their domain. It’s just that the two are roughly equal except for the exposure time used.

In that example the Pixel has a 6x longer exposure. While Pixels can currently get better night photos currently, it's simply because the software lets them take minutes-long exposures instead of seconds-long. From a hardware point of

If the medicine is easily available, then you shouldn't have any issues with your kids mating with people afflicted. Your grandkids can just take the medicine and it will become a non-issue in the same way that a cleft lip is today.

The 2k over a network latency really depends on the networking hardware in the computers and switches and how the software stack is set up. I wouldn't be surprised if it's easily 10x that in most real cases.

I agree, but the main reason why "miniaturization" exists is that it can be done in parallel with theoretical developments and allows you to make money off the results (therefore funding more R&D).

Someone replied to the tweet mentioning exactly that, but she seems pretty sure that it's fraud. I'm closer to believing her because I'd bet the original authors would challenge her if called out incorrectly.
