Not sure why you're getting downvoted. This is the system that works fantastically in Australia, and I assume other countries in the world.

I understand, and applaud Jeff for that, but most companies don't pay for their interview process, many of which can be multiple full day affairs. I can't imagine a company not getting backlash holding a design competition to 'interview' de

One thing I've really struggled with since coming to San Francisco is that every company seems happy to take extensive time out of a programmer for an interview, including an audition project. Yet if you ask this of a designer, you get shot

Click the "more" link how often? Is there a way to tell it that I don't agree with one of its suggestions?

How do I know if it's working? I've activated it, clicked a ton of links that interest me and I'm not seeing anything.

Yes, looking for press. I run a site: http://cardnap.com/ which would appeal perfectly to a lot of magazines, etc.

They ripped off the concept and idea of the pricing table, yet they didn't flat out take the design and just modify the text. These guys took every single element, changed no style.

This exact problem happened to me. Do you know what Apple did? They took my computer, replaced the case and did a full diagnostics on everything to make sure it was in perfect working order. I had the computer back at the end of the day.

Does anyone know of a link that explains this well, with pictures and in depth analysis that I can send to the headmaster of my old highschool? He loves this kinda stuff.

I think you summed it up perfectly. If your boss is no longer paying you, he has no right to your time. Just like with the pirated content, if you don't pay for it, you have no right to it.

There is nothing ethical about pirating.

Why don't you see it as immoral or stealing? These companies spend millions on these movies, countless people work on them and depend on them for their wages (not just the actors, but the support crew, the caterers, the make up artists, the

Hey, that's fair enough! I remember getting downvoted a bit when I first joined, but don't be afraid to say something just because you'll get downvoted! It's just stuff like "<3" that will get immediate downvotes from everyone.

It's just a HackersNewsism, stuff that doesn't contribute to the discussion, one liners or troll comments all get downvoted. Your comment didn't add anything to the discussion and could be replaced by the 'Upvote' button.

Just because it's not a lost sale, that makes it right? It's right that some people have to pay for it and some don't (just because one would buy it and one wouldn't)?

I guess, honestly, it all comes down to the type of crime and then the specifics of it. But what I'm saying is that I don't think first offense streaming websites deserve jail time.

It's not that it's violent, it's that you've been given an option that you've decided not to take, and then it escalates.

Again, like all my opinions above I'm going to get downvoted, but I still can't comprehend how you can justify that it's not wrong to download it just because they're "ephemeral" digital goods. How does that make it any different? How about

I obviously am referring to the people that have not paid ("without paying the content producers"). I'm not making assumptions, I'm not trying to take some moral high ground as you're making me out to be taking, I'm simply starting a discus

I would love to hear your explanation on why piracy is not wrong! That was the exact purpose of the question, so others would share their views on the matter and I would have an enlightened view.

I think the onus lies on the distributor (Amazon, Hulu, NinjaViedo) more so than the consumer. I do believe the consumer holds a relative degree of responsibility (and I guess this is what should be determined by a court) - e.g. it's obviou
