Why does it take so long to get changes to your LLM merged? This is ridiculous. Please appoint Havoc as a maintainer already.

I agree with everything you say, however cap and trade is not working as designed. Instead, we have gotten a system of questionable carbon offsets where neither the buyer nor the seller is interested in investigating the quality of the pro

Preaching to the choir, I studied atmospheric science in university, carbon credits for anything outside of geoengineering just seems like greenwashing to me. Cap and more cap seems to be the right approach to me, the "trade" par

Desertification is not carbon neutral, though. You have to have the forest regrow to do that. It might be radiation budget negative though, because forests have pretty low albedo, and deserts reflect a lot more light.

How authentic are those carbon offsets though? Are you willing to buy carbon offsets the next time a forest fire runs through your land, which may exceed the total amount of offsets you sold?

What, you don’t think the postal court run by the Post Office will rule against the Post Office? Come on, there’s only a small chance of being sent to Rwanda in a crate if you file a case against them, hardly worth worrying about.

Senior people also cost more because their health care costs more. Of course discriminating against older people is illegal, so they cut down on senior staff which just happens to have the same cost reduction. Funny that.

No need to bring magic in. Tolkien might have made a mistake in translating the original Quenya, or perhaps there were transcription errors among the Noldorin scribes. Other histories have these same problems.

It’s not a conspiracy, it’s just that we lost a lot of knowledge when the Mud Flood destroyed the Tartarian Empire. That’s why we don’t know how to build giant mechanical public clocks any more, and everything is digital clocks now.

There are already alternatives to Fandom. I volunteer with Miraheze.org, which hosts wikis without all of the ads, has been up since 2015, and has recently become a US nonprofit. We're currently geared towards more technical users, b

You can opt out of the new contract by mailing a paper letter to Roku with a paper copy of your physical receipt for the device you bought years ago. Sounds like a perfectly normal way for a technology company to get feedback in the 1980s.

Comments closed over two years ago on that link. But yes, every couple of years people ask the Library of Congress to change copyright enforcement, so the battle of rule making never really ends.

(2022) It’s been two years since this was published, has it become a widespread problem? I haven’t heard about copyleft trolls before so perhaps not?

In astronomy and cosmology, 1 and 5 are the same number. Only the orders of magnitude matter when talking about large things. At atomic scales and in photon length the precise numbers do matter.

Steam and combustion engines might be a net good for humanity, but weren’t good for millions of species in the current mass extinction. I think it’s a similar worry that AI will only be a good for the very top of the food chain.
