I have carefully curated my music collection for a few decades now. I am very specific in how I listen to music. I listen to full albums and want them to be gapless. I get really frustrated at the smallest glitch, hiccup, or buffer. All my

I think bandcamp shows that there are people who still want to purchase and download a digital version and contribute directly to artists (on top of purchasing physical media). I personally, want a lossless version that I can archive, have

Really? My ipad became e-waste because HBO, Hulu, and Netflix all released new versions of their apps for the new version of iOS, and then decided to cut the old versions off from their services. The old versions all show an error telling m

I have several cameras hooked up to an NVR that has 2TB drives for constant recording (when space runs out older recordings are deleted. I usually have a few weeks available). I then have frigate[1] set up on a small fitlet (with a usb CORA

I would be very curious to see how well this actually works in different data centers. My understanding of empd is that it basically expects all nodes will be on the same switch. I don't believe there is any default handling for spikes

pidgin + libpurple is great, and it makes interacting with Slack and other chat systems I use daily so much better. It's too bad libpurple clients seem to have withered on other platforms (what happened to Adium?) I really miss the day

Those merges from master into a feature branch are useful though. If there is a conflict that you have to resolve in your feature branch, then there is a clear place where you did it, and that can be double checked. If you are rebasing, the

I still use pidgin daily for jabber, slack, and a custom protocol I wrote for the chat feature in my company's product. It is great having a unified tool with minimal resource usage that is fully integrated into your platform.

`merge --squash` generates a nice linear history in the main branch and other developers don't need to worry about rebasing their feature branches or keeping them super clean. That's great. However, `merge --squash` loses its asso

Exactly. And if the default view of `git log` wasn't so terrible (if it acted like git log --first-parent), then I think a lot more people would do that too. But I understand why people who just use `git log` complain with merge commit

I agree, merges are great, since you have a single commit you can pull out. To back out a merge, you would just do another merge with a reverse diff: `git merge merge-commit..merge-commit^` Also, it makes things like backporting much easier

I am the opposite. When it comes to bring short lived branches into the main branch, we only allow MERGE COMMITS, we don't ever do fast forward commits. When looking at history on our main branch, we ALWAYS use `git log --first-parent`

One more thing I'll point out, is that I am reusing data that already exists for my apps. Most agencies are recognizing how important it is to have a GPS tracker on every bus. In some cases, it isn't for the rider, but is more for

I tried with Moovit, but they weren't interested unless the Agency was formerly part of it. At the time I was a board member on the citizens' board which was an official board of the agency, but still didn't have enough sway.
