When the weights are publically available (and open to use), then there's a free market for hosting that model at least. That's not independence for me, but it's lack of vendor lock-in. For some of the open models, there'

It aligns pretty well with corporate and pr-speak, but the LLMs really weaponize it and tire out the phrases quickly. I bet this is interesting for linguists.

Over on r/math, one objection to the proof has been raised (more discussion is needed to know if it is a problem): https://old.reddit.com/r/math/comments/1uszk3d/openai_claims...

You are basically right. The real acceptance of the proof comes when it's accepted to a journal after review. However, in some sense spreading a proof needs to be done in math - then the community reviews and decides if it is valid. We

I guess "depth first" is just an expression of so called chain of thought, which is just a linear sequence. I don't know if GPT has any search-like (tree search) algorithms in their reasoning, it would be quite interesting if

There's still no release of rust-bun so then it might just not exist (until it proves itself).

Oh-my-pi seems to like robo coding, while pi itself is entirely against vibe coding for production. (The clanker is a tool, not a free wheeling agent.) And I see that tonight pi has had their regular devs ship ( https://github.com

Well exactly, "Zig + someone using AI" can never beat Zig + someone who cares. A developer that cares about the project comes first, no amount of AI can change that. AI could be a good tool for a developer though.

Don't Anthropic and OpenAI both already have military contracts? They are already growing into that fabric I think.

Unfortunately, Firefox is often put in the bot bucket nowadays. Not sure what happened here. It might be because of aggressive privacy settings that are flagged as unusual or suspicious.

I wonder if monte carlo tree search could play a role in reasoning. I'm searching and it seems to come up in arxiv papers, so the idea is not dead. I'll look more into this after writing this comment..

Yes, I tried out that blog post and concluded that it has llm-written formulations, weird ordering of its alternatives, and LM Studio is the "Step" in its list that works best. The mmap trick certainly does not work.

I think the copyright and license question is one of the elephants in the room that hasn't had a satisfying conclusion. It's very important to have a clear idea of this for the open source movement.

Are you seriously suggesting that there are different acceptable perspectives on the first point? I think it's important to hold on to such things, that's how we get further and get agreement, to try to agree on fundamental princ

I don't think Lua is your average ecosystem. Lua is used as an embedded interpreter. For example, Neovim doesn't want to change its configuration language's syntax just because there is a new version of Lua available. On the
