I'm less worried about losing a hardware key than I am about something breaking in a mysterious way and locking me out! My initially question was really about personal (unshared) systems. (I don't know - a random auto-update busti

Neat, this might be the lowest-friction approach I've seen so far. (My distro even has a `libpam-google-authenticator` package to boot)

I've thought about doing something like this several times, but the proposition of using any tools/libraries/pam modules/etc not installed by default, custom pam/sshd configs, and generally anything "outside of

Off-topic-ish but had to look it up because it caught my eye - the Batagai depression[0] (pictured in article) looks quite beautiful and surreal. Almost like an alien ship or huge manta ray landed there (or both!) https://en.wiki

Appreciate this comment (not being facetious), but I do feel not wanting to be blasted with this stuff is something I can change! Maybe it's not anger/pitchforks. I'm not exactly trying to live in a self-created bubble, but t

Likely just me, but nearly every title of a NYT article that shows up here elicits some kind of emotional response in me. I can't tell anymore if they're expertly crafted or that I've just become really sensitive to it. At th

NYTimes is the main reason I've been on the search for some kind of feature for HN (addon? greasemonkey script? ANYTHING) to auto-hide articles based on domain or title matches. Does anyone have a solution?

The sentiment is nice, but is it naive? (Even having accounts with any of the listed services feels dubious these days) Are there (or will there be) any features/benefits for people who don't have social media accounts?

Seems all for not :| I don't suppose there are any proposals to replace how SNIs are transmitted? (sans-vpn/tor, that is) Does QUIC/HTTP[23] do anything different?

I'm not a Mason but I always assumed this is what Freemasons are about (rather, the lodge setting and a deep/understood openness between brothers - "builders" from all walks of life). I'm probably completely wrong (

Another (albeit, terrible) solution is HomePlug[0]. I once had broadband installed in an apartment and was provided with a couple cheap "ethernet over power" wallworts. I think the tech has improved, but they seemed to get a massi

"Influencers" (what a crock of a term, by the way) who try to do this are essentially beggars and/or fraudsters, who likely needs to get his/her ego in check.
