A few things: I hate wires coming out of my mice. I can tolerate the thin braided cables coming out of most high-end mice, but that's about it. With Mouse Box, I'd have display, USB, and a bunch of other stuff sticking out of the

I think you might misunderstand the nature of the artificial sounds mentioned in this article. It's not talking about electric cars making noise for the benefit of pedestrians (although that does get a cursory mention), it's talki

I have no problem with manufacturers including fake engine noise as a feature as long as it can be disabled by the customer.

The title should more correctly say "Whatsapp for Google Chrome". You can't really say it's for "web" if Chrome is the only browser you support.

I agree with this. My employer provides free lunch three days per week and I find myself wishing it was every day. Going out and finding lunch on my own is a huge hassle and takes a long time. I'm happy to quickly pop down to the cafet

I wonder if you can turn around and face the glass walls when sitting, or if you have to have them to your back. If it's the latter, there's zero privacy advantage in this case to having a private office.

Wherever my next job is, I'll make sure to take a tour of the working environment. If it looks anything like these photos, I'll decline an offer.

It looks like Cactus is no longer available on the Mac App Store. Any reason why you took it down as opposed to simply making it free there?

I don't know, but what actually happens is immaterial. All that matters is perception, and my perception (selection bias and all) is that starting or being involved in a startup seems much less risky than it did 5 or 10 years ago. I&#x

I remember Paul Graham once saying that 9 out of 10 startups fail, but it seems that nowadays outright failure is less and less common. Sure, only a fraction of startups get really big, but it seems like acquihires are becoming the default

When engineering a file format, you have multiple competing priorities you need to balance, such as size of the resulting file, reading and writing efficiency, backward compatibility, etc. Since Adobe didn't anticipate using PSD as a g

Was PSD designed to be a portable format? My understanding is that it was only meant to be used directly by Adobe Photoshop, much like the original DOC was meant to be used only by Microsoft Word. As such, it's a little unfair to call

I suspect that the lack of 1FUI is also part of why high DPI support is lagging pretty badly on Linux. In some window managers/distros you can get something that sort of/mostly works for built-in stuff, but once you launch a third

Fines are one thing, but I bet that Uber would quickly find themselves with a manpower shortage if drivers started getting arrested. It's probably only a matter of time before Uber provokes a city into doing just that.

I can live with soldered-on RAM - there is a bit of an Apple premium to the RAM they sell, but at least you can get the configuration you want. I'm much more disappointed by the lack of a quad-core option. I was planning on picking up
