This has happened more than once, in different scenarios. I wonder why is it that GhatGPT (and the rest) don't put the actual response in a box that is separate from the "hello" and "goodbye" part. I once wrote a me

It is really sad that none of Netflix or Google had hired a couple of devs to work full time on ffmpeg.

by kwanbix 11mo ago
Yeah, sadly crazy.

by kwanbix 11mo ago
Exactly. That is why I said easily 100~200k. It will be a rounding error for them. It is actually crazy that Google is not already hiring the main dev to work on ffmpeg with all the use they give it on Youtube. I also wonder if it is maybe

How do you think Jeff got a 500 million dollars yacht? Not by writing checks. But on a more serious note, it is crazy that between Google and Amazon they can not fund them with 50k each per year, so that they can pay people to work on this.

$149.95 (U.S.), and the long strap design at $229.95 (U.S.) plus tax. What a joke.

> No, when you asked Nintendo to manufacture you a run of cartridges, you paid for them whether they sold or not. You took that risk. That was exactly my point. Distributors like EA or Activision will charge you because they took that ri

No, I just look for video reviews. Actually, something I always complain about Steam is that the videos of the games are not about the gameplay. They are most of the time about the trailer, like if it was a movie. I want to see the game pla

I shop on Epic Store and GOG and it is a breeze also. I never had issues with GOG or Epic (where I buy less to be honest), but that might be me. But Steam has the network effect. They launched first. Of were the first that successfully did

The difference is that the company had to risk manufacturing cartridges, distributing them, etc. If the game didn't sell, you ended up with lots of money lost. Steam is much much easier for Valve. I am not saying it has a value, but 30

The point is China consumes a lot, for the rest of the world and for itself. Was pretty obvious, but I wrote it down for you as you seem to be having trouble understanding the concept.

by kwanbix 1y ago
AS if they don't consume the products themselves with their 1.2 billion people? My home country we are only 40 million. I am sure they consume much more than us.

As a non-american (from South America) who lived in both USA an Europe: Yes, in USA you get much more money, like you said 2x~5x, but then: University is expensive as fck. Health care is expensive as fck. You have 5 days of paid sick leave

by kwanbix 1y ago
Well, everything is great if you have money. I was talking about the health care as a system.

Having lived in Europe 10 years (I am from south America), it is crazy that the rest of the world doesn't follow Europe's health coverage: everybody is covered, all the time, you can be covered either by public insurance (was my c

Why not adjust for inflation? The original $595 in 1983 would be about $1,997.57 today. Similarly, $199 in 1983 would equal around $647.30 in 2025 dollars.

It depends on your definition of perfect. For me the perfect file manager is Total Commander or Midnight Commander or Double Commadner.

Double Commander is the best (actually Total Commander but that is for windows).

I really wish apple sold the Mx to others like Lenovo. I would love to se a ThinkPad with an M5 running Linux.

by kwanbix 1y ago
Of course, you’re not wrong. Apple could subsidize by absorbing part of the tariff in the U.S. and overcharging in the EU. That said, in the EU we have a two-year warranty. VAT in the U.S. is no more than 12%.
