I have to think "ugh" when I read about this idea. Random three words to every square seems like chaos to me. These also take a lot of bytes to store. In the US, every address or "delivery point" can be represented by

The state I live in is pretty harsh, if you are not working you cannot get SNAP unless a doctor signs off that you are disabled, so that leaves the foodbank (requires resources to travel) and religious operations.

I got some insight from a beggar in Moscow who I met outside a food stall who complained of hunger. I told him to order what he wanted. He refused and wanted cash instead. Not all are like this. I started offering to buy food and some se

I have always hated the idea that I have to pay ESPN and Disney, services I have zero interest in, in order to have video services from the cable company. It's one reason that I dropped cable for TV. As a former cable insider, I know

Congratulations on having a serial A call as your first/only callsign! I'm always impressed when a new person walks in off the street and gets Extra.

I found a test plan for this on the old 5 series [1] BMW say the engine should return to idle speed "immediately." The wiring diagrams imply that for this car, the electronic throttle was only applied to cars with automatic gearb

Couldn't it work by checking that crankshaft speed increases remarkably without any corresponding increase in wheel speed? I don't know how racetrack drivers do this, but when I downshift, the crankshaft has some opportunity to fa

It takes more than 1 s for the throttle to shut, so it's still possible to spin up the gearbox in neutral to downshift. My friend's VW was a manual shift, some variant of Golf, and he did encounter this behavior on a track day.

Thanks for this insight. During a low point in my career I took on some contract work to deploy new POS at some QSR. I had to visit the secret menu on the Ingenico card terminals to verify network settings and in some cases (when whatever

Ingenico have a set-up password, too. Once you enter it you can change network settings which could be dangerous in the context of a poorly segmented network. Given this I am wondering what kinds of settings are available in the Verifone s

My experience working in cable headends are that most programs that we watch on cable are delivered using DigiCipher (motorola's) CAS. There are always one or two PowerVu receivers tho: Viacom (MTV, A&E) is one notable feed. Also

PowerVu is pretty old, and (at least in the USA) it's not really used for home viewing, so I think this isn't very interesting unless you have a giant C / Ku band antenna.
