Right. All the evidence points to more potential being left on the table for emergent abilities. It would make no sense that the model would develop all of these complex skills for better predicting the next token, then just stop. It's

I believe AGI using LLMs will need a cognitive framework to glue these models into. I don't think we're anywhere near having one model that reaches AGI with it's own agency and online learning.

The thing is, there's no evidence that the current path will lead to superintelligence. It could be the case that despite feeding a trillion dollars in compute / data to a model, that we still need to hold it's hand to do any

This is the real threat of these large AI models. They will revolutionize the ability to find vulnerabilities. Especially if we achieve AGI.

China won't stop their progress. If they achieve AGI first, consider us over. A communist AGI will be used as a cyberweapon. The world order is fucked right now. Verge of WWIII. Russia suspended nuclear treaty. China and Iran are helpi

If China achieves AGI first, we are done. The first thing they'll do is create cyber-weapons. Their AGI could find vulnerabilities in our systems and brick all of our devices. It's a far greater near term existential risk for us t

exactly. Specifically China. They've said for years, they want to be the global AI leader. They have more data than anyone. Now that they know LLMs work as good as they do, they are going all in. They achieve AGI first, that's bad

The question is, who's going to stop us from using it for commercial grounds. Most companies that would use these models would be startups and are years away from any sort of potential audit that may occur.

Read the Microsoft Research paper on GPT-4. Some extremely intelligent behavior emerged from just text that has nothing to do with the text it was trained on.

Silicon chips will never be able to generate a bound qualia space as we have. Currently, you could prompt GPT to act as if it is sentient and has qualia, and it will do quite a good job at trying to convince you it's not a P-Zombie.
