My main issue is the terminal emulator. MinTTY is the only I can get to work like I want with colors and fonts, but I still miss ligatures and the performances are bad. I'd really like something faster with full color and font support

I found it to be much easier to build an API (in rails or whatever, I use phoenix/elixir now) and consume it with either a frontend framework like ember (I use elm now) or a static site generator (I use hugo). This way I can produce ei

I had this bug once a long, long, LONG time ago, since then my password is a sentence that's doesn't look like a password. Of course I'd still change it if it went out to slack :)

I am so scared at the direction things are going. Vendor lock in, DRM, anti neutrality... I should be able to use a laser to project a video on the back of I spoon if it's the way I want to watch it.

Even if I'm more inclined towards an easier solution like the Garmin for fitness tracking, this looks interesting for pure tinkering.

That's true, I hacked the rear view camera of my car to draw guide lines connected to the wheel position using a pi[1], but it took me tons of effort to reverse engineer the wiring system and CANBUS of my car, I learned a lot (CANBUS i

The Chronos looks like a sci-fi watch. I like it, but it lacks what I want for fitness.

That could be a solution, but I'm a bit wary of this kind of solution because the the support could be dropped any day if the manufacturer closes the device. Of course, I could keep an older firmware.

That would be interesting to know. As long as the files are not obfuscated too much that could be a solution (I'd like to avoid having to reverse engineer a binary format).

About the google maps things. Anybody knows an alternative where I can measure things (like the length of a named road or the width of a building) and count things (for example, I draw a polygon, and I want to know the number of houses with

How does it work? I mean, most carrier here in Wurope don't give you an ip, your phone has an internal (10.xxx most of the time but also IPv6 only) ip and you are behind a NAT, which means hundred (up to PAT scalability) of devices may

I have been doing some elm, and refactoring is a MAJOR bonus. You can refactor your entire project, and when it compiles it usually works. It's funny how dynamic languages are seen as beginner friendly, while in reality they are not (r

I really liked CoffeeScript, it's a good way to generate sane JavaScript. But I have switched to Elm for larger projects. The maintainability it brings is a lifesaver.

Yeah, LeoCAD has much nicer UI. I should have added that on my Geforce 1080 GPU it was smoother with big models. I hope LeoCAD will become more robust with bigger models, having an open source solution is really a big plus.

LDCad[1] is the only one that won't lag with big models. The UI is a bit weird, but it works very well. I tried LeoCAD, but it was either lagging or crashing with 1000+ pieces. [1] http://www.melkert.net/LDCad

I'm not using rust yet, I am mostly writing using higher level languages (python then elixir/erlang, also lua) with a few part in C when I need to do something C is good at. Also enjoying elm for frontend.
