Are you sure those numbers are right? People are paying up to $90k to get $100k? Where is this land? I need to open a business here. In the US, you pay like $350/year (assuming you’re, like, 30-ish?) for about a half million dollar pol

So who gets the formula? A chemist with no vested interest? I have no clue why a CEO would be untrustworthy when any other employer wouldn’t be.

No, my comment is implying that if you enjoy the relative freedom of writing software in new and interesting and novel ways, you probably will not enjoy copy-pasting buildings or bridges or whatever again and again and again. People can eas

Oh sick, so every time my company faces an economic downturn, I can shift huge amounts of workers to a program designed to sell unfinished drugs at cost! Like, it doesn’t even have to be viable, just start selling saline with coloring or so

Term life insurance really isn't expensive, and it's meant to take care of those you leave behind in an unfortunate event. Pay off some big bills so your partner isn't grieving AND homeless. Most of the people on this site ar

Because programmers probably think it'll be a similar field, but it's different. It has correct and incorrect ways of doing things, strongly enforced. You're not inventing new shit, you're reapplying old shit constantly.

I guess, but it’s his plane in a sense. If he wants to fly it and destroy the company, it’s his call. You just give the advice. To be clear, I’m referring much more to CEO/owners - maybe more like Zuck than Bezos

I think the last thing this world needs is programmers bringing their particular style of “””engineering””” to important things like bridges. Can’t wait to hear about the 5-9s of uptime on the Golden Gate.

You would destroy any inheritance your family might get, or which could be donated to a cause saving a dozen lives, over a 5% chance you don’t die from cancer specifically, which might make you feel unbearably bad until you DO die? Like muc

I found this green block in my back yard. It killed a dog because he was mostly cancer I think. Anyways just sign over hundreds of thousands of dollars, thanks! This will probably ki—er, cure you. What have you got to lose?

If you tighten a bolt using a breaker bar and it fails unexpectedly, it really is the screwdriver’s fault though. Nobody can know if the bolt truly has 70 pounds of torque applied. Maybe it broke at 62, and will fail in 3 flights.

You are uploading information to the chat system every time you use it. Doubly true if you’re having it analyze or work with documents. I presume pulling this data out is simple if you’re, say, China. There really no security to investigate

Calling it ugly is weird. It’s a copy-paste of a rolls Royce phantom, slapped on an SUV frame, with the cheapest possible interior they could design. There are much better ways to insult this garbage product. :)

I believe the only non-plug in hybrid they make is the 911 with the T-Hybrid system in it. It uses motors to assist performance, but is not a plug-in. It’s probably just an incredibly small number of sales?

The clean and simple syntax was always the reason to use jQuery. I remember seeing sites that were anti-JQ, so they'd show how you could replace a single jQuery line with 9 vanilla JS lines and uh... somehow this would improve things?
