My comment is less about storage and more about the physics of the Grid (not an expert though so fact check me) It's largely one giant multitenant pool of both capacity and consumption with Voltage being the indicator. Variable load so

Not even about Ublock. Do you control your browser? Manifest V2 you can write a plugin to modify the page in pretty much any way. This is used by adblockers but philisophically important because this is no longer possible in V3 in the name

I think exactly the opposite. No one cares. This is important because most people accept the default.

The backlog of hooking variable load sources to the US electric grid is very long, often requires retrofitting the grid, and cost is borne by the generator. It's not as simple as having the capacity because power is used the instant it

+1 to this, we have a 0.1% hardware failure rate every time we do a rolling restart (40-50k nodes). Some just never come back, in the best case, but actively misbehave in the worst. If the node is unresponsive we remove it from the cluster

My kids both picked it up, but my younger was similar. Being able to sign "please" and "all done" helps anyway because "eeess" and "a ya" are what she actually says.

The presumption that information warps minds consistently leads to free speech restrictions. My perspective you need to proove harm, then proving Tiktok caused the harm, and showing banning is the only remedy. I'm not sure even sure Ti

Yeah, the issue is one of: 1 - Unity has an unprofitable Business model 2 - Unity chose their business model 3 - Changing the business model will, as we have now seen, require time. This is the startup trouble I see in that all the promises

There are 4 lights. In all seriousness, if people think it's a problem telling them "it's all in their head" isn't an effective argument. Dismissing legitimate concerns with abstract (to them) statistics will only

My current situation and not based on the previous generation :) I know it's a genuine question, but it does strike me as odd we expect the current generation to be satisfied with the preferences of the previous. Booster seat laws alon

If you have neither a rice cooker nor an instant pot, get an instant pot. If you have one, the other compliments it well. My wife is Chinese and we eat a lot of pot roast over rice.

It's just like anything else you need to teach moderation. My daughter gets to choose what she does on her tablet, and it has educational games. She gets to choose when she watches. I decide how much total screen time, < 1hr per day

That's a surprisingly small amount, it would mean that a year of video is only 1.5 EiB. IIRC google has like hundreds of EiB in storage.

Respectfully disagree, I think getting value out of a work in-progress is preferable to the alternative and provides vital feedback to the software builders.

That backwards compatibility strategy to update defaults on new versions while leaving existing the same is to avoid the scenario you're complaining about by not changing behavior for existing customers.

There's a tension in tech between client control and server control. Big Tech have largely been removing the knobs of client control within their apps while using the power of defaults to slow people switching.
