If you can't understand the code snippets in this post, the concepts will most likely be lost on you, no matter what other language would be used for the code.

Maybe, but should the author really cater to people who can’t overcome a language barrier? They probably won’t understand the concept anyway.

To be honest, building a JSON feed consumer with a web frontend is a weekend project nowadays. Hosting it costs money and requires more work but… deploying a simple app is something that you should have in your skillset anyway. With a cloud

If this is a true story, then it means there’s no point in applying at all. You should just go full LinkedIn, and networking, preferably when you still have a job. I’m not gonna do that so I’ll just keep my job until layoff, and then panic,

It’s quite treacherous to identify yourself with labels: introvert, extrovert, conscientious, conservative, liberal, empathetic, neurodivergent, etc. The act of putting a name on some traits that you have can seem liberating: I finally know

But they hired someone capable of learning. 99% of developers will not learn a language that doesn’t look familiar to them on principle. They don’t like it and it’s the end of discussion.

I think certain timings are more likely to get a post to the top and if the mods deem the content valuable, and the submissions aren’t all by a single user, they allow it.

It was but when the wrong fool gets a say, they will mess a perfectly good thing up for everyone. Organizations often promote fools who don’t second guess their beliefs and think they have it all figured out.

I hate this API and Go's handling of protocol buffers in general. Especially preparing test data for it makes for some of the most cumbersome and unwieldy files that you will ever come across. Combined with table driven testing you hav

My manager takes one look at this and asks: so, in the end the effort was unsuccessful? No impact? That’s OK, let’s get you refocused on something productive :)

I just checked and this app costs 5 dollars with no in-app purchases. For all the development that went into it, for the online features, translation to almost 50 languages… And Apple gets to keep 20% of that? Mobile pricing is messed up.

Maybe „French is more readable than Korean” would be a better analogy. Sure, if you’re already familiar with the Latin alphabet, but Hangul is clearly a better writing system.

This is like complaining that Spanish is so hard to learn while English is actually quite intuitive. Of course it’s easier to understand what you already know.

For anyone wondering, the "brutal censorship" is that a post making fun of a trans person is hidden (but can be clicked on and viewed) and flagged as intolerance.

That’s the case for algebraic data types in Go. Otherwise you need to remember the impossible states whenever you change the code. It’s worse if some more complex fields only make sense in a specific state. Enums can’t help there. Languages

Write a generic instantiator that scans your codebase for generic usage, and makes one copy of a generic for every type it's used with. Then you can remove all the generics and go back to copy and paste.
