The one with the most cultural influence across the western world, whose messaging is parroted by everyone else? Come on let’s not pretend we don’t have a default.

Driving polarization is a conscious strategy of leaders and the media (especially a particular large corporate media outlet, which is worldview shaping for a large part of the population), isn’t it? You could argue that the system rewards i

Yeah, they could. -- You've changed the contents of your comment. I don't adhere to the American Civil Religion, so I don't need to consider opinions of the founders of the project.

Question to Chinese citizens on HN: do you feel oppressed by your government? Do you feel that rule of law exists in China? The notion of encrypted private communication didn't exist a couple of decades ago and people are talking about

It seems to me that government spending isn’t a number in the collective consciousness. It’s the idea that the big gubermant is waisting my money. How much money is actually spent where isn’t a part of that debate and effectively doesn’t ma

Isn’t it funny that there are like 3 numbers that matter to people when evaluating economic conditions? Inflation, unemployment, GDP. It’s like we’re incapable of nuance on a societal level.

I love using AI to set up projects in 5 minutes but I hate to develop these projects using AI because inevitably it runs into a wall and I need to guide it and fix its code. I suppose in this case it picked up an existing project and DIDN’T

What I would need is a statically typed language that has first class primitives for working with untyped data ergonomically. I do want to be able to write a dynamically typed function or subsystem during the development phase, and „harden”

Money lets you choose what you do. Sam Altman says "don't waste time", because he has the choice what to spend it on, and possibly the illusion that most people have that choice.

Time passes quickly because of jobs. We go in on Monday, we skip the week and come out on Friday, flushing 70% of our time down the toilet. It's tragic, and I don't want to suffer that fate. Alas, there's no escape for common
