This depends on the type of the game, but a fellow developer is beta-testing a canvas based game http://esdao.com . It's works quite well, with the exception of Mobile Safari to my recollection which is supposed to perform better with the

This is interesting. On one hand Facebook doesn't try to attempt to satisfy the email crowd (imagine Blackberry and corporate firewalls), on the other hand, they are looking squarely at the SMS crowd (imagine teens who send 500+ sms a month

I'm intrigued by Monticello. Is that a source control tool ? Or is it far more than that. The author seems to alude to Monticello as part of the smalltalk package.

I think a pod is a host, like wordpress.com is a host of WP blogs, hence a database per pod. A seed is an individual user account. The way I understand it, each seed can be encrypted so that even the pod owner can just look in the database.

I see where you are getting at. With A: Standardization is good but it probably takes at most a day to setup a new computer. It takes weeks to learn and master a new environment though. Productivity is probably paramount in a small company

All of our systems (development, live, etc.) run Linux with a relatively complex configuration Depends on said complexity. You listed three notes above. (A) is odd. For (B), similar packages should be obtainable unless it's a proprietary

Good Q. In Chrome, you can add a block action under the 'Exceptions' list. You can add blocks for Cookies(includes HTML5 storage), Javascript, and Images ( shudder ). Before you do that though, have a look at what info is stored under samy.

This just reinforces the need for NoScript. Neat thing I discovered about Chrome is that it treats HTML5 storage like normal cookies as well, i.e. you can easily delete them or block.

I like to compare it with WordPress, what with wordpress.com and wordpress MU, etc. Rails and AGPL vs PHP and GPLv2. Admittedly Diaspora are two steps up on the language and license stakes but I don't think that's a real road-block. That's

At first read it seems like a normal, in fact, useful feature, but the key line is this: "When he turns it back on, it’s back to factory defaults. All the settings, apps, and data have been erased. wtf?" Major case of Exchange over-reaching

Skimming through the book, it is clearly written and starts with small steps for the JQuery beginner. I'm not sure how someone with no Javascript would fare. But for someone who has been using JQuery for a while it's worth about 5 minutes o

I'm mildly surprised to see the classic FSF lend-a-book argument in there: "Would it be wrong for me to make a copy of some sheet music and give it to a close friend of mine for an audition? Of course not. In fact, it would be considered n

I can't help but think there is a flaw here. Isn't this a bias in favor of survivors? Without measuring the control group of people who have similar genes but did not survive, it's not possible to conclude that genes ~> longevity.

Out of interest, can anyone remember what the prices were for the Large, Mega and Giga plans ? I can think of a situation where a small start-up is on Medium, and switching up to the next level at $100 per month is looking quite dear. Would
