The workflow is entirely up to you and your collaborators. "commit" does not have be literally a commitment. Try branching on your branches so that you have the freedom to experiment.

My two favourite aliases : mo = ls-files -m lol = log --oneline --decorate --graph `git mo tests/` gets you modified files for the tests folder. `git lol` I think as the command line version of gitk

Not sure why the aversion to merges. Bisect works fine even with merges, and the avoidance of the "christmas tree look" is IMO just aesthetics.

It's 2013, sharing passwords is so insecure. Things like OAuth should be used. I wouldn't be secured if they move towards something like http://www.okta.com/what-we-do/single-sign-on.html
