I don't think anyone is trying to ascribe any meaning to this.. like the name of the site implies, it's just a puzzle.

I never meant to suggest that this wasn't a big deal, just that the title was intentionally dramatic to get more views.

I also find the title to be rather sensational.. "I tried creating a web browser" ^ "Google blocked me" implies that Google blocked them from creating a web browser.. which is not the case.

Can I make the suggestion of implementing folders or categories of some kind? That's a big feature that I care about that seems to be missing. And having the ability to create/edit entries from the phone app would be great Regar

I'm not trying to weigh in on the debate here, but it's perfectly reasonable to imagine having a statically linked binary that you wanted to run..

At some point, it's one persons responsibility to enter that date into a computer in some fashion.. is he supposed to share the keyboard with someone?

More keystrokes, but fewer lines of terminal output. Why have 5 lines of output when I don't want any? ktm5j@kurma /pool/share/pkgs $ ed ~/.ssh/known_hosts 130923 398d wq 130755 Sed just quietl

sed is easier! You can do it with a oneliner: `sed -i '398d' ~/.ssh/known_hosts` I do this all the time. In fact I have a function in my .bashrc for this at work since I use it so much: `function sedkey() { sed -i

Making a docker container to run the command in is a good idea, but not helpful if the container doesn't have the same filesystem. I love the idea of something like this, but I'm not sure if I would ever use it out of fear of uni

Totally, but I've had the best experience using KVM over VMware or VirtualBox. They have built in a lot of support for virtio hardware so KVM works very well.

This isn't just some standard library though, and what do you mean by "wouldn't mean much, unless you're the compiler"? ... The code in X11 libraries is infinitely closer to a window manager than what this guy wrot

Does it annoy anyone else when someone says something like "I wrote X in 50 lines of C" And then the first non-comment line is: #include <X11/Xlib.h> Which itself is over 4000 lines and includes tons more code.. It&#

Since source is available, of course you should audit it, or at least glance over it before compiling. You should realize that this is not feasible for everyone as most people are not developers.. and even in the subset of people w

I usually go straight to tar & ssh over scp since you can do directories where you can't with scp. But yeah, if you just have some files scp works.
