Also, note that the (US) DEA was founded in 1973, while _451_ was published in 1953. Ahh, so the DEA named themselves after the book then, that sounds about right.. ;)

I think that's the point. neither of these is hard to work out from first principles with nothing but very basic math. Memorising the answer is all well and good, but that's just another rule of thumb.

Destruction of 'counterfeit' media. Because after all, just because you have a vast zero-scale network on which to distributively backup the collected artistic works of society in real time, doesn't mean you should, obviously. I mean, that

Was only the other day that my mate pointed out to me that 451 is DEA if you transcribe it. And after all, there are all kinds of paper and they don't all catch fire at one given temperature, do they?

They are scaling them, is just they are scaling everything rather than allowing user control. I like scaling of stuff, as long as any window that I choose to push to native resolution goes to native resolution, especially on a machine tha

It can if you set the global resolution to 2880x1800 According to the article, you can only set a maximum resolution of 1920 x 1200 within the UI and it resamples that up.

Why are they faking the resolution? Is it that the graphics card has problems, or is it to make their own apps look nicer than competitors, or what? I hope they are not rescaling stuff like photoshop to something other than actual screen re

It's fine to run code written by other people, but that code should be run in a safe, completely sandboxed environment. There are no verifiably sandboxed environments on any consumer IT equipment. The $0.99 game I downloaded does not hav

It is true, you cannot do science without speculation. And it doesn't matter if you speculate before or after gathering a particular set of data, speculation is still required. I didn't say that you shouldn't test your model, was just point

You can't do science without speculation. Science often models things it has never seen in the real world. Sometimes, when it becomes possible to make a measurement, the model is found to be accurate. Like in the classic xkcd "Science. It W
