This is where EU policy is helping. Permacomputing only works when we have a significant number of devices that are easily usable beyond a usual lifespan. Whether the whole device is repair able or at least the key aspects such as battery t

It would cost more than that to install an entire facial recognition network.

Considering facial recognition is rather bias with certain ethnicities it will just be inaccurate and fast, so still not solving the issue in full.

God! This is only going to make the parents of pageant kids even more horrifying. Not only do you dress your child up like a street walker, but you will also give them skin cancer as well.

Ugh! How much fraud occurs at Disneyland? I would be shocked if there isn't a third reason they are not making clear. We desperately need to put up a fight early on with this technology as it's unreliable and just not needed, and

I'm quite frustrated to hear that Xteink have decided to block firmwware being changed on some devices. I can only imagine the reason would be consumers who look for support after something went wrong but it's frustrating for thos

The internet archive is doing god's work. It's up there with Wikipedia as a resource. Copyright needs a massive overhaul, especially with the written word, and post death. No one should inherit copyright or ownership on the owners

I've had to take a moral stance and move to just playing games on Gog that I can buy and own the files for. No I can't play the latest and greatest but it's not the end of the world as I've so many classics to still play

I don't think Silicon Valley has been smart money for a decade plus. Quantum Computing is becoming the exact same with academic and government funding. With a lot of cash being spent on long shots or no hopers.

Is it not a case of many funders don't want to risk missing out on the next big thing? And a loss of a few billion now is better than the loss of many billions down the line and control of the future?

Surely one path is to return to humans. We can accept that a profit grab to reduce staff numbers to maximise profits, maybe was never the best plan without being in control of the development tool.

It's approx £80 to £100 more for the same ram and SSD configuration as a £600 MacBook neo (No charger given in many countries as most people have a usb c charger). That's comparable. It's not a huge difference and the feature

The framework 12 is comparable in cost to a macbook neo, plus can work with a stylus as a tablet. I would say that is huge reason to recommend it. As well as that it can be repaired and upgraded as and when you want which is handy. Likewise

We have both forgotten how to make things and also decided we can make more profit letting someone else make everything for every market. We have moved to a generation fixated on maximizing profit. However there is logic there as the cost t

That is because it is a pretty product that is useful for looking at things that you can already look at with a different, cheaper, and also far less isolating method. The Vision Pro did nothing new.
