Did you not read the entire article on how scads of intelligent people got this wrong? And the explanation of why they got it wrong? It’s like following a map that carefully routes you around a sinkhole, and then stepping right into the sin

I can’t relate to this at all. In music, you practice until you get it, and then you stop. It’s important not to over-practice, in fact. In high school math classes, I was assigned an order of magnitude more practice problems than I actuall

That’s one reason the BCG vaccine isn’t given in the US, but it’s also because the data on whether it’s effective in adults is really inconsistent. It seems to vary based on geography (maybe distance from the equator? they’re not sure). If

It’s a valid question, but I don’t think the current vaccine-unfriendly climate in the US is the reason why the BCG vaccine wasn’t mentioned. BCG wasn’t routinely given in the US even in the last half of the 20th century when vaccines were

Well, no, but people do. The whole point of this thread is "people are bad at estimating quantity." If it looks the same size as it used to be, but in reality it's half again as big, that's going to have an effect.

Cereal bowl sizes vary wildly, to make it even more confusing. Mine hold two cups (~450ml). Some hold way more than that. Some hold less. Buy a new set of bowls and you might be affecting your entire household’s eating habits.

This depends on a lot of factors. There are some type II diabetics like this: they might need insulin after a meal with a high glycemic index, but not after a meal with a low glycemic index. There are some type II diabetics with more advanc

All I’m saying is that if I were a scammer, I wouldn’t bother tricking someone into saying a specific thing. I’d just use gen AI. I’m definitely not arguing against “call the person back using a verifiable good number.” If everyone did that

No, you’re expressing a different, more lucid point of view (“the people who conceivably might take issue generally don’t”), which can be engaged with. For example, I would argue that it’s reasonable to take offense on behalf of people who

No, my entire point is that most of what I do is not coding. Even if LLMs could output correct code, they still can't do software engineering. > the master control system needed for the Optimus/droid future all righty then.

When I hear comments like this, I'm always curious what kind of work the commenter does. None of what I do is predictable enough that a project manager could even come up with a good enough prompt. I'm frequently evaluating open-s
