Thanks for pointing it out. I guess HN is at worst ( or best ) 70% Anti AI. I personally put it roughly 50/50. There are plenty of post and comments suggest how AI is good for something and but also pointing out its flaws, rather than

I know this is designed for iGPU / Video Transcoding workload. But I have wanted to see something like this for Cloud Computing for a very long time. No more vCPU. You now rent per node in bare metal fashion.

Paging. Part of something not mentioned was also IOPS. Are you on 8GB with your M1? With 8GB you will have lots of swaps happening. Especially with Safari. That extra SSD is going to make quite a lot of difference. Together with 12GB Memory

I think you got it the other way around. It is JPEG XL has to pay for it to be published by ISO and certified. And the document will be edited and audited in part. And in turns government choose format that is protected and safest to use. I

Before the world of internet, Open does not always mean free. They are two different concept. A proprietary codec isn't open, and you can't use it everywhere unless the owner allows you to or provided tools and support. Microsoft

That is a very cherishable way to put it. In realty JXL has been on one of the highest request in Interop for at least 2 if not 3 years, and both Microsoft Edge and Safari have spoken about frustration of "certain features" not be

I just wanted to add the decision for JXL inside DNG was well known even before it happened and Chrome still said no. Adobe and Intel along with plenty of other players in the industry screams this is so good they are all adding support. Bu

I think it is quite the opposite. There were some support of JXL but leadership of Google, Android and Chrome all wanted AVIF. It was a perfect opportunity to announced AVIF with AV2, may be taking the chance to fix issues that JXL wins AV1

Things I hope will improve with Neo 2. SSD Speed. Currently 1.2GB/s. That is slower than MacBook Pro 2015. Hopefully we see 2GB/s as in iPhone 17 Air. Backlit Keyboard. A19 with 12GB Memory. That extra 4GB headroom make all the di

It is not Apple planned. But Apple's expectation / estimated are off by a factor of two and it is unusual from a supply chain perspective when they are usually extremely well done if not the best in the industry. Especially for Ma

That is the assumption Shopify is just software, but it is not. It is a service. And I don't see why a service can't have a choice to choose which customer it wants to serve. Especially in a market with plenty of options.

Well yes. But it is also a mistake that should have avoided and Apple are usually better than this. This suggest they have under estimated for one reason or another. My guess is that they were extra cautious in case of a flop just before ne

Since most of the R&D are done on the iPhone side, Neo's margin is actually quite good. The R&D for M5 and M5 Pro etc have to be amortised by Air and MacBook Pro. The percentage should be similar. In the old days of Apple prici
