Good point. I am an Indian, raised in India, came to US at 19. I notice the same thing here. We have neighbors who are white and have their grandkids over every day. It is very refreshing to see. However, it is a rare thing to see at the sa

Calculus comes under a bigger field called "Analysis". It's in the diagram, but what a terrible layout! As someone already mentioned, https://tomcircle.wordpress.com/2017/02/15/map-of-mathematic

Thanks for the recommendation. Do you have personal experience with this book? Do you mind sharing your thoughts on the book as well as the practice of mindfulness meditation?

Not just Nit, but I think this is a major point. It is my biggest pet peeve and I immediately back off from articles written in such manner. If writers write good introduction paragraph, it gauges my interest and I am more likely to read. O

Fair point. Would roughly half be a good estimate? That is, ~100k?

21ms sounds really low, which is good of course. But as humans, would we notice 21ms lag while writing even if we paid close attention?

Interesting. Can you please elaborate your point about the carburetors? Why shouldn't they be used in general aviation? I don't have much knowledge about engines, that's why I am asking you.

RIP Bill Thurston! Thank you for sharing! His mini-essay made a lot of sense. I think he nailed it in the beginning by saying that the world collectively benefits from Mathematics as a whole. Or rather, benefits are a "side effect"

I think it is a cultural thing. I am Indian living in US. 32 years old, married and my wife and I live with my parents and we couldn’t be happier. I will always live with my parents. Now this of course varies from culture to culture and hou

Thanks! The Math in that paper is mind boggling! I hope to get to a point to understand it someday. Very naive question: the paper uses integrals (perhaps Lebesgue --- can you tell how naive I am, yet?) for proving some lemmas etc. As a beg

I am a Math student and I am curious about the topics in this article. I am curious as to what all branches of Mathematics is the paper related to? It's a result about polynomials, so Algebra and Analysis?
