I know Bilal. He is a really great guy and has done so much for the community here in Ann Arbor. I am sure this will be a great success if it gets funded. I have backed the project and you should too.

Yeah, that is too rich for my blood. Plus it is during the week. Real startups have work to do during the week.

I moved back to Ann Arbor from NYC about six months ago. I think I had to move to New York to see how truly awesome things are here. There is a lot top notch technical talent, the cost of living is low, and abundant cheap space makes it a s

I was a defense contractor in this domain. I think the capabilities of Abraxis are trumped up a bit. I wouldn't worry too much.

This looks great. Most audio and image processing libraries are a pain and I always end up wrapping them in something like this. It is nice to see someone open source a well written wrapper.

Jan Erik is an outstanding guy. He has helped me through a couple of rough spots. The OpenCV python bindings for SIFT don't seem to work (or exist). The ones for ORB work really well. Here is an example: https://github.com/ingenuitas/Simpl

We're in the process of moving our outstanding tickets from SourceForge to github. The list of tickets is here: http://sourceforge.net/p/simplecv/tickets/ We will probably complete the move after the next release. If you are interested i

I ticketed this up and I will get to it Monday. I should be able to ship it with SimpleCV 1.2. https://sourceforge.net/p/simplecv/tickets/180/

The short answer is yes this can be done. You can use the Haar cascade wavelet files that ship with OpenCV 2.3. I will see if I can toss those into SimpleCV.

Thanks! I try to keep things real in the documentation. Sometimes things are slow, especially with python. After years of working as a closed-source defense contractor nothing feels better than having someone looking at my code and agreeing

This thread just gave me a great idea. I am going to add inline image download and upload to SimpleCV. E.g. img = Image(" http://foo.com/stuff.jpg ) img = img.dosomething() img.upload(src="imgur" apikey="ASDFASDFASDF") This will be fun. I j

This is a great tutorial. I have been working on an open source python library called SimpleCV that makes this trivially easy. Grabbing an image from a camera is one line of code. Applying the face detector in also a single line of code. C
