I know this is not an uncommon opinion in tech circles, but I believe an insane thing to hang humanities hopes on. There's no reason to think AI will be omnipotent.

Nice work. Just FYI for anybody else - it adds an icon to status bar (if that's what it's called? - top right icons). I thought it was going to open an app window and didn't notice the icon, so thought it wasn't working.

It looks like it contains data from CommonCrawl and ArXiv. It's not clear what kind of processing they did, but sometimes these releases seem like just repackaging existing datasets with your name own name on them. It's not hard t

I like it principle, but after watching the situation with Twitter clones, I'm not too optimistic on federated services taking off. I would like to see a wikipedia-style system for Twitter/Reddit: open access data, non-profit.

The message is: if you refuse to be our puppet state and play by our rules, we will destroy you for as long as it takes. Anyone who believes the US acts to punish evil authoritarians in defense of freedom and democracy is delusional. Look a

This is an interesting case study in how a reporter decides to word some basic facts. Here, the economy "surged by 1.3%", but in the cited source (Bloomberg), the economy "rose by 1.3%". That article also has more stats

What if we replace P={god exists} with P={there is a cardinality between integers and reals}? I think some people think of “god exists” as unknowable, or undefinable, or ill-defined, etc. But the “riddle” requires P to be exactly true or fa

According to Scott Aaronson's blog post on this, there are 16,679,880,978,201 5-state Turing machines. I wonder if we know what percentage of them halt? Edit: number of TM for n states: (4n + 1)^(2n). Found this (for smaller n), which

Is this “typesetting” only referring to things like page layout? For glyph rendering and shaping, I thought FreeType and HarfBuzz were the most popular open source engines, which I don’t see here.
