Ditto. The problem is self-reinforcing: people don’t read docs because the docs are bad… we don’t spend time on docs because no one reads them…

I suppose it will never be built, but it says the planned area is 26,500 km2 (10,200 sq mi). Have they said the expected/desired population? Riyadh is by far their biggest city with 7M people on less than 2,000 km2. Where would these

IMHO, the "JSON patch" concept is useful in contexts that have nothing to HTTP, just like having a "diff" format for files.

I agree "." would make more sense than "/". I actually think an array would be better, ["foo","bar"] for "foo.bar". How many many bugs are introduced by people not escaping properly? I

Imagine the reaction to Palestinians blowing up a residential Israeli apartment building with hundreds of civilians inside and justifying it by saying they wanted to kill an IDF member inside.

I don't think it will pass, but I think subsequent versions will be slimmer and less mock-prone. In 10 years people will look back at the first version the way people look back at the first bulky cell phones.

Nice job. Although I disagree with the adjective "over-engineered". I think it means using too much machinery to accomplish a simple task (bad), where here it seems to mean having lots of options (good).

I can see why people want a phone number now. I was thinking more about why society doesn’t move away from phone numbers (for me, it’s been a hastle to be linked to a carrier and a country)

Your project looks interesting... But, what's the point, when you can easily accomplish this (and much more) simply by self-hosting XYZ, wrapped by an instance of FOO, backed by a simple cluster of BAR, communicating with a BAZ? Also R

Interesting thread. I only read some of it, but I did find one answer that tells me how Python and LISP differ: As an example, I suppose that when you’re developing code in Python’s pseudo-REPL you often reimport a file containing class

You can create a file, example.py: import time value = "foo" def go(): for i in range(10): print("...", i, value) time.sleep(3) Then, in repl, import example import thread

If Python is going to include a REPL (which I think it should), it might as well include useful features that people expect from a modern REPL. (That being said, I personally always install ipython...)

Some things are a bit awkward, but what specifically can't you really do in a Python REPL? You can dynamically overwrite functions in an imported module, you can re-import modules with importlib, etc. I ask because my Lisp experience i

It seems the problem with this "debate" is that intelligence is very clearly not a scalar value - where you can look at a number line and put a dot where cats are, where humans are, where AIs are, etc. So, people just talk past ea

I've been doing some things with Whisper and find the accuracy very good, BUT I've found the timestamps to be pretty bad. For example, using the timestamps directly to clip words or phrases often clips off the end of word (even si
