I think both Orwell and Huxley had some extremely prescient insight on the future, and I personally felt that we have come to somewhat of an Orwellian time period, although a lot of Huxley's predictions will be seen in the long term fu

Another thing I also think they got right was sectioning content by the date. That essentially made me feel like I had to check everyday, since there was a completely new set of content each day for me to check out.

This is really awesome! What motivated you to change it from what it was previously (a website to share hacks from hackathons)?

I don't dream in code, but sometimes I think in code. I find myself converting non-tech issues into syntax, and analyzing it for potential 'bug fixes' until I snap out of it and realize how weird that is.

Location context would also help in this situation, I'm sure there are local hackathons that'd allow anyone. Also, make sure you check out the Startup Digest ( http://startupdigest.com ) for your location to see what hac

I'm really glad that a lot of hackathon projects are addressing YC's RFS categories, a lot of good can come out of these.

A MOOC I'd definitely recommend taking along side this is the Startup Engineering from Stanford, taught by Balaji Srinivasan and Vijay Pande. I've taken a lot of MOOCs but that was one that truly changed a lot of things in terms o

This one is similar in that it strips out all JavaScript, CSS, and attributes, essentially stripping down pages into simple documents.

Just for context, these guys turned down significant VC money recently in favor of bootstrapping/remaining open source. Kudos!

I believe Yo uses it in production, and they have millions of users (if not exponentially more). Although of course, the DB interactions from what I'd assume aren't too complex.

One that I do take seriously, but is local to Colorado (Denver, Boulder) is gSchool ( http://www.galvanize.it/school/ ). It 100% guarantees job placement within a well-to-do startup as a software engineer, and teaches ev

You guys should work with CodeDay ( http://codeday.org ) and StudentRND ( http://studentrnd.org ) to help students at the CodeDay events learn how to code even if they don't have laptops! Maybe sponsor one of the lo

I'm a friend of the founder, it indeed isn't ready yet, although docs should be up fairly soon. It is fully functional, and it is hosting a few platforms in production including http://hackerbracket.com

It's not necessarily the best/only way, but it adds a sense of fun and informality that a larger corporation wouldn't want/need to have in order to attract employees.

I think that kind of thing demonstrates less that Valley hackers act like teenagers, and more that hacker culture is more open/informal than the typical rigid tech corporation.

Personally, after using Keystone a couple times, I've found it to be more analogous to something like Django or Drupal; it's more of a content management system framework. Nevertheless, it's a great tool.
