Excellent point - reminds me of a quote about Prolog that stating problems in a solvable form is as hard as solving the problem. Creating a graphical environment can't sidestep the difficulty in rigorously defining a problem or figurin

I think it depends on how you feel when doing extracurricular work - if you're energized and excited, awesome. If you eventually find yourself drained and/or beating yourself up, take it easy on yourself and rest up.

Don't we already have reddit to commiserate about injustice? Honest question - just not sure why this is a good fit for hacker news.

Perfect intro to core.async in a web app - just enough of an example (jsonp within a click handler would require a nested callback). It would be nice to update the tutorial with a final instruction on compiling with advanced mode so people

One thing I love about knockout is how focused it is at doing one thing really well without forcing a full blown single page application. It makes it easier to sprinkle in the data-bound rich interactive UI to the pieces of your page that n

Love the quote, "Phrasing problems in solvable terms is more effort than solving them." as to why Prolog didn't take off. I'm surprised, however, given the talk about ASTs, that the article mentions nothing about LISPS a

Great points in this article - though using something like cascalog makes hadoop suck a lot less - e.g composable more complex queries closer in power to sql. Wouldn't be quite as crazy to use on smaller datasets be it just for fun or

Two first impressions: - whoa, this is cool! - this is harder to read than the callback approach right now Makes me want to dig deeper, fully grok and reevaluate whether or not I'd really prefer this approach to callbacks.
