Assuming that EC2 is on a shared network with S3, you could do something like the following: CLIENT <-UDP-> EC2 Instance <-TCP-> S3 Not certain if it is worth the hassle, though.

Related: A fun story about DONKEY.BAS [1] told by Andy Hertzfeld exists where he reminisces about comparing an 8088 with the Macintosh project and how they were disappointed at the lack of ingenuity. [1] http://www.folklore.org/StoryView.p

Most definitely. Localization is much more than a simple translation. The title of this post should really read: "Launching my product in Japanese" Good luck to the OP!

Trust me when I say that you should take down the JP site immediately. Your friend might be "native-Japanese," but he or she is only directly translating your text from English. The biggest part might be simply that you are not incorporated

Congratulations. Unfortunately, this translation is too direct. There is no culture in the text and it feels weird. Do you have a Japanese person manning your telephones? You list a 1-866 number on the site, but be prepared to answer the ph

I, too, wanted to ask this question, but feared that someone would respond with something akin to "submit a patch" or "grep the source code" Obviously, it makes sense for someone who is versed in the news.arc internals to fix the problem; n

Although very loaded, Fukushima recently had a very similar problem. Generators unfortunately are not everything -- perhaps more companies should think about how to gracefully fail instead of try to keep the ship afloat no matter the odds.

Indeed, on the 3/11 as the events were unfolding and prior to the explosion, I was checking the Japanese "SPEEDI" network [1] for the very same information. I thought "wow, how cool is Japan for having this system up and on the Internet in

There are many interesting aspects about the Japanese arena. One of the most unforgiving is that users do not understand that their phones are connected to vast networks or that navigation system in their car is powered by a computer with m

Twitter Firehose was never about Realtime Search but more about adding an additional signal to their crawler and perhaps to Google News. When the Firehose was enabled, it was not surprising to see GoogleBot immediately after a new link was

I found this interesting: "Hacker News" vs. "HN"[1] As the site gains reputation/users you can see that many switch to the abbreviated version. [1] http://hntrends.jerodsanto.net/?q=hacker+news%2C+HN

This appears to also have affected Sony in Japan, as well. It is interesting how this announcement differs from the Japanese announcement[0]. Japanese people are so paranoid about their identity that this cannot go well for Sony in Japan. I

Most likely these some 280000 lines represent conditional statements that are drawn out to keep weird edge cases out of sight. For instance Boeing used Ada [0] because it can quickly assert all of the conditionals at compile time. [0] http
