I put Swift into the category of "almost memory managed" languages and it's never fully clicked in my brain. Thinking about strong/weak/unowned references is more difficult in my opinion than when to malloc/fre

If this article resonates with you, here are some games I'd recommend you try. They are all indie puzzle games, they can all be easily picked up and put down in a moment, and they're all fairly cross platform. - Monument Valley -

In aggregate it seems pretty clear the science is in for living a healthy life: get enough sleep, exercise, don't eat sugar. It's obviously more complicated than that, especially at the individual level, but if you aren't hit

I'm trying to recalibrate my own relationship with my phone from its current status as the "this is what I do if I'm bored" device to a "this is a tool, I should use it for a task and then put it away" type sit

I had a similar feeling so I built filigree.app. Im planning on shutting it down soon, but it might be reborn more focused on small blogs. You can try it out if youd like with this invite code kris-ffdd9e150679

AWK is such a cool little tool, great way to process log files (as shown in the article). Glad to see it still getting some attention. It's kinda nuts how far the unixy idea of "just streams of text" has gotten us.

The youtube link in the article has a nice animation of how mantas filter: https://youtu.be/2nRN1ZJPs98 This approach to problem solving is one of my favorite. Instead of thinking hard about a problem: observe nature and le

Google is incentivized to do this, they make good money off of it. It’s boring and true. They’ll keep doing stuff like this until it reaches some publicly unacceptable limit. Until then use browsers like Firefox or Safari where the incentiv

Sorry if I wasn't clear, I think it can be fairly anonymous if you're careful. Keybase requires an email to register, which can of course be made anonymous but it's still a small hurdle.

I wanted a more pseudo-anonymous form of this, which is why the message board I built is invite only (still pretty new). I think if you prune bad inviters, you can build a really high quality user base that is still mostly anonymous (depend

I wonder if we will ever really break out of being generationally bound for situations like this. I see this in social issues especially. Seems like the speed of change is rate limited by older generations dying and newer ones being born.

No plans on releasing the source at the moment, it's about a thousand lines of Go and not particularly interesting. Roadmap: I'm going to add comment deletion, and maybe the ability to add one or two clickable links to a post. Sti

I've been thinking about experimental online communities for a while now and Filigree is the result of that. It's invite only, minimal, text only, and pseudo-anonymous (depending on your username). No ads, no creepy tracking. If y
