Thats what I meant. All I see from americans is apathy or feverish reverence for their leader. No american will intervene when the US government gives marching order towards Canada or Mexico.

The swiss have a more challenging geography and weather than Germany. They also spend far more per capita on their train system. All that and afaik they still manage to connect all important places.

I have used a lot of public transport in different cities and almost never experienced your problem. Crowded yes, but never unreasonably dirty or with lots of drug-addicts.

In a healthy democracy there are more ways than just voting to influence the countrys political affairs. Democracy has a price, voting every four years is not enough.

Every citizen in a democracy has a responsibility for the actions of their government. Voting does not magically absolve you from that. And its hard to see the nuance from the outside when all you hear are threats of economic turmoil, death

They also claim that the Taiwan-island is part of their territory. Since Its currently full of taiwanese people and China holds regular military exercises around that island an invasion does not seem far-fetched.
